Toji involvement in no understatement an important moment in the story. Without him: The Star plasma vessel would merge with tengan Geto wouldn't spiral to what he became in JJK 0 and Kenjaku controlling his body Gojo wouldn't have become as strong as he is without his involvement. And a Succession crisis that leads to a clan being destroyed.

toji is one of the most fascinating characters in the whole story. Because of how important to the story he is, how impactful to the current timeline he is, his ties to various characters we know, and just how little we actually know of him. We only see him in the last hours of his life. The similarities he has to many of our main cast (gojo, maki, megumi). Just how little we know of the sweet loving family man he was, contrasted with the cunning, ruthless, cutthroat man weighed down by his traumas that we see him to be. The fact that even in his last moment with his son, he doesn't even tell him who he is, despite how much he obviously cares for him. I don't see tojo willingly stopping his rampage for anyone else except megumi. After fighting him im sure he was genuinely proud of his son, and truly happy that he's doing okay in life, *without* the zenin clan. I think toji truly thought megumi was just better off without his father in his life, and figured it's better to remain an anonymous relic of megumi's past rather than reveal himself and add baggage to megumi's life.

Toji being addicted to gambling makes so much sense for his character. as someone whose core belief is that if you're born as a monkey you'll die as a monkey and no amount of hard work can change that, gambling as his vice is symbolic of that constant internal struggle. he is seen specifically at betting spots like horse or boat races, instead of the casino, and in bets it's significantly easier to fix the outcome. the winner is chosen at the beginning, they are born a winner and the others are born losers. Toji never wins, but he always comes back and he always stays until the very end, even when it becomes obvious who will win. because in betting races, there will occasionally be a dark horse, an underdog that no one expects to win who will come out on top at the last second, against all odds. that's what toji is betting on, he's betting on himself

Toji broke the JJK universe. He led Gojo and Geto to discover their respective paths, eliminated one of the four Unregistered Special Grades, weakened Megumi to the point he had to release (too long a name) to fight handsword guy, and traumatized his son one last time. Not bad for a monkey :)

Toji is the personification of one of the most interesting and simple parts of Jujutsu's world building, imo: The majority of a Sorcerer's potential is simply innate talent. Other shounen often talk up Hard Work and Go Get'em Attitude, but nevertheless give the protagonists some amazing bloodline ability or innate power-up that separates them from the rest. Jujutsu just straight up says, if you're born useless, you can only hope to reach mediocre Toji is born incredible, but within the eyes of his clan is subhuman. So even when your talents are inborn, they STILL may not be recognized and appreciated by those around you

you are saying HR isnt an inborn talent which it is regardless of how Zenin saw it. Its runs in the Zen in bloodlines. On top of that they werent usless in the JJK world only _again_ the Zenin saw it that way, Gege made sure of that by making Maki one of the top 3 hitters And as I put an example, Miwa is not part of the big 3, has no bloodline with strong abilities or powers. Shes the most normal as they go, she now cant use her sword anymore rendering her completely usless.

What honestly sticks with me about Toji, despite his give no fuck attitude, despite having power and skills that make him more than a competitive match for any special grade short of adult Gojo and Sukuna, he’s clearly horribly depressed. I’m not going to argue he’s a good father, but it’s clear that Megumi and his mother gave him a security and comfort in himself and a purpose greater than self affirmation that kept him centered. Once she disappears and he no longer feels like he’s enough, he regresses into old habits and sells his son away because how could he ever be enough. It’s clear that Toji is at his best as a person when he’s looking out for the best interest of others, which makes his second death so tragic because the moment he saw he had been so close to killing his son, once he confirmed the identity, without hesitation he kills himself before he can regress back to his instincts. He may not be a good dad, but he had the makings of one and the tragedy is he could never see it in himself and try to keep himself centered.

In a way, you can see a ton of Megumi in Toji and vice-versa. Megumi gives up alot for others when he would fit the troupe of an extremely selfish character and Toji can be viewed as a Megumi who is increadibly greedy and selfish of his own desires without caring for others truly.

Love how toji being free of cursed energy(the literal "curse" on humanity and also the thing that alienated toji) ironically is what allowed him to affect the story so heavily. Someone unbound by fate and the conventions placed on everyone else by the narrative because of his "imperfection" was the only person able to change fate. He was the most free person in jjk, but he was still bound by trauma. Just a fundamentally human character which makes his parallels with gojo(a lonely god) so good.

Genuine question for you, isn't four hundred thousand subscribers and an average of one hundred thousand views per video a big following to you? I find it odd that you would say that to someone with almost half a million subscribers. I've felt like in the past year Sage has cemented himself as a cohesive and calm voice in the anime community. Don't mean to sound mean at all, I'm bad at phrasing my sentences. I just find it curious that this is the popular sentiment here on the channel. @@gojihead3195 I never really cared much about them because of Naruto's weird deterministic setting, how evil can someone be if they are ordained by destiny and the blood of a moon goddess to be evil? Either way, I never saw them as really compelling, but, the uchihas are more warmongers and insane terrorists with no larger plan, the Zen'in are a respected and "well adjusted" group of conservative old guard sorcerers who maintain horrible traditions just to preserve the status quo of jujutsu society. They view weak sorcerers born from their line as scum and treat them like little more than slaves, their own flesh and blood. Women are little more than breeding facilitators and "educators" for the new generation. Toji was born without CE and he was relentlessly abused and made to kill cursed spirits since he was a child, the moment he started to do that with ease and finally fully manifested the true extent of his heavenly restriction the higher-ups of the clan feared for their lives, but killing Toni would be too much of a risk so they let him walk free of the clan. Maki suffered the same childhood as toji, except worse in other aspects because she's a woman until she ran away and let her twin sister take all of the abuse. The fact that you get an arc dedicated to the Zen'in protagonists mercilessly and brutality killing her whole family in cold blood and it's one of the few things you can say is objectively good for the world should tell you how horrible they are.

Amazing as hell. My opinion on Toji is completely changed now. I thought he was just a murderer who cared about no one but himself. You used implications from the story and author’s statements to show a completely different side of him. It’s all an act to protect his own ego. He lost himself completely. Of course he went after an awakened Gojo, of course he called himself a “monkey” when he destroyed Geto. Much like the shinobi world, the jujutsu world has scarring effects that sorcerers don’t even realize…

I think it's kinda nuts that Toji thinks people who specialize in CURSED energy are the blessed ones. Nothing good has ever happened because of it, and the self hatred instilled into him by the Zenins was so strong that he couldn't realize the heavens themselves protected him from all that. I think it's nuts that despite all the abuse and suffering, Toji never went to annihilate the clan. Finally I think it's nuts that he was soooo close to healing from it with his wife and Megumi, but sank back into "the life" cus of unfortunate circumstances (or maybe his wife's death was part of Kenjaku's plans)

Also people actually believe him lying about forgetting his son. He was just trying to distance himself. I get they are jokes and they are funny but they aren’t genuine to his character as he is man who internalised a lot of his trauma. But he had retired from his rage and was about to become a father, but due the loss of his wife he rebounded. A great thing too about the differences that toji sees between him and megumi is during shibuya and in the inventory arc. Toji dies because he refused to run and let his pride take over when fighting someone so strong, while megumi doesn’t feel conflicted at all to run away when faced by him. That small little “good for you” hits really hard and makes so much sense for him to say. He’s glad he’s not prideful like he was as well as seeing him not be affected by the zenin clan curse like he also was.

Just one thing Fushiguro is the last name of his 2nd wife, not his first that gave birth to Megumi. Meaning to Toji, Fushiguro was simply a last name to cut himself and his son away from Zen in. No matter how much he wanted to escape Zen in, he couldnt just leave that behind. At least when Gojo came around, he might have thought hed have a better option to have his kid not be associate eith Zen in but also be a strong sorcerer

Aye you rock bro, that was a great, in-depth video of a complex character. To most Toji is a heartless killer but you made him seem so human in that he is simply a product of his environment. Keep it up big dog😤🙌🏾

From the base, it really feels like there is a serious energy of "Hero of another story" in Toji, but also it is interesting possibly to view it through the cultural lens that karma/fate/duty are so important in Japanese culture and here was someone who could not do the family business, and yet...he could have been the best worker/member they had even without the magics

I feel like part of the reason why Toji tells Satorou about Megumi is because of how different Gojo is from the Zen'in. Having just done a hit on this teenager, we know that he knows who he is now. His habits and even how he does things. His strength and character are things that, in his final moments, are clearly shown to be of value to Toji. It's said that every parent wants their kids life to be better than their own. I don't think Toji saw the Zen'in lifestyle as capable of producing that, regardless of how Megumi was treated on the surface, he would still be mired in that environment. Moreover I think it's a shrewd move. If his kid has a technique, are the Zen'in really going to mount some kind of plot to stop him from being with and under the care [and possible tutelage] of the holder of the six-eyes and limitless?

Toji's existence is a direct contradiction to everything the Zenin believe. Undeniable proof that their belief system is a lie. That the greatest Zenin to ever live had no cursed energy. Thats why they could never accept him. To accept him as he was would be to accept that they are wrong.

Naoya stated in the manga that Toji was the only one who came the closest to Saturo Gojo's loneliness and that lonliness symbolized absolute strength. Ironic that the man who didnt have jujutsu or any cursed energy rivaled the strongest sorcerer's lonliness.

Just as the heat of a wildifire is needed each season to spur the germination of seeds, Toji's rampage of a character helped lay the ground for Gojo's awakening and the shift Geto's perspective that led to the events later in the story. Such a broken character was much needed for the story to progress in new and interesting ways.

@@ThorsSnorreson but he didn’t though. One characteristic of insecurity is a lack of resolve. He had resolve so much so that he went after the strongest. He rejects his old identity and reinvented himself. The show alluded to the strength or lack there of is individual truth. It’s the reason why megumi struggled with his power despite having as much potential as yuji. Toji had self acceptance a pillar of power in jjk.

I think Toji and Maki are good examples of why a tragic backstory does not, in any way, justify a person's horrible choices or actions. Maki was despised and abused by her family for the same reason Toji was, but she turned out to be a much better person. She was pushed in the same direction, but did not budge.

similar tragedies but the degrees that they both received is vastly different. so much so that the two's psyche is different. one who believes they stand a chance and can prove the clan wrong while the other develops an inferiority complex believing they will be never good enough to be "human", a prisoner to his own self-esteem (an unblessed monkey)

Toji is truly a beautiful character in general, i wish we could've got to see more about him or maybe a spin off anime movie or spin off manga about him, this is truly a broken villain, i wish we could've maybe him got along with Megumi or what would've happen if his wife stayed alive or maybe why did she die. I would say maybe we could've seen him get along with the other sorcerer's but i don't see that happening as he despises anyone with CT's from his trauma from the zenin clan. idk maybe it could've happened.
