Tom is right about people just stopping to look at this game. I backed this game on Kickstarter because I stopped to watch people playing it at Gencon last year. And I'm super happy with it.

Note to any other colorblind players out there. The dice are quite a challenge. The Blue/Purple are very difficult for me and the Red/Green isn't easy to distringuish. I really wished they would have made a few minor tweaks to make it more color blind friendly (black pips on the Blue and Green dice would ahve been easy). That said, this game is gorgeous and plays well with 2, 3 or 4 and with ages 8+. My kids really like it. When you choose which window to complete at the beginning of the game I would always recommend a 3-4 point window. That means that you can focus on scoring more bonus points due to the goals rather than just trying to get dice that fit.

Didn't think of that. But it is an important thing to think about, especially for open game meetups. Thank you!

I would recommend replacing a color or two with solid white and/or black dice. It won't look as nice but the contrast will make the game more playable

Thanks for the comment. Was considering picking this up but was worried about the colors so your comment made up my mind. My blue/purple vision is abysmal, so this is a deal breaker for me. I wish more companies made an effort to accommodate colorblind players. Ticket to Ride is an excellent example. Most people probably don't even notice the symbols on the cards, but those are essential to my ability to play the game.

I think it wasn't clear in the video, but when you use the tools for the first time you spend 1 favor token, and then spend 2 every time someone wants to use it again, it doesn't escalate. Also they give +1 point at the end of the game.

If I'm not mistaken that Cathedral in the box is la SAGRADA Familia the masterpiece located in Barcelona by Gaudi. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagrada_Fam%C3%ADlia Looks cool the game and being inspired by a monument in my city is tempting!

Well if you don't know the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona you probably aren't even interested in boardgames... Or at least this is my opinion. People who enjoy boardgames or at least a certain kind of them are usually smart and have some good general knowledge and when they don't know a thing they make a search on their own (so hard in our times typing on google Sagrada, you don't even need to write Familia and you'll immediately get the wikipedia page... and umh I think you can easily think that the game was inspired by that specific church by Gaudì) ... Said that, I'm not from USA and I've never been in USA and actually I think American people don't know much about our geography, but yeah maybe they know about monuments because they want to visit them (since they don't have many), I can see your points, but I'm from Italy and I'm sure they would come here before visiting Barcelona... Ok I take the cookie thanks and I also add another information... I've been in Barcelona plenty of times and usually I also take a walk around the Sagrada Familia... on Av. de Gaudí, slightly north from the Sagrada Familia there's even a Boardgame shop :D See you

I just wanted to be polite xD honestly I think that if you don't know what and where the Sagrada Familia is you can go to fuck off... maybe I'm mean :D and that "If I'm not mistaken" at the beginning of his comment really gave me cancer. But again, I'm a piece of shit, I'm totally aware of it ;)

in 5:15 there's a mistake. You don't put a 3 on the purple, because you block yourself for a 3 beside the blue 4. End of game I made a house rule it's -3 pts for each empty spots, which gives you a hard choice to fill your space. Because -1 pt is nothing and we wouldn't care if it's empty.

Any idea why this is listed as a 14+ age game? Seems like it pretty clearly lines up with games that would normally be rated 8+ based on game complexity.

+dcnole On boardgamegeeks, it's rated as 8+ by the users. They usually do a pretty good job in voting for appropriate ages, complexity and number of players. I always stick to that instead of what's printed on the boxes. Pegasus is going to release a german version during the next months. I wonder what they are going to print on the box.

In many countries you have to have very stringent testing done on products marketed to anyone under a certain age, often 14 (also costs a pretty penny, no surprise when bureaucrats are involved). Many hobby items are labeled this way because of this, but people under that age can easily still play with or use the item.

What happens when you are stuck and have no place to put more dice ? And its round 7? (i.e)
@carlatate7678
@carlatate7678 4 жыл бұрын
When you're stuck and can't play, your unplayed dice go on the round track with the final die and you will likely end the game with open windows, which will deduct 1 point each from your score.

I think coulda been so cool to use 4 sided dice for the far more interesting and esthetic shapes triangles allow for. But looks good nonetheless.
@KnakuanaRka
@KnakuanaRka 5 жыл бұрын
david zerbst Yeah, triangles could make some interesting patterns, though it would be hard to make the tetrahedral dice look as pretty as these. Maybe truncate the corners. Heck, while we’re on this, maybe use octahedral dice (8-sided) in a hexagonal grid; that could be interesting too.

Interesting review, though Watch it Played did a much more thorough and complete explanation of the rules here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnuvoZR9fbFrg7M And two videos showing an average game starting here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWfQiHZ6o8t_rcU Also, I honestly haven’t played this game, but there are a couple negative things I’ve heard about it: First off, as someone mentioned below, some of these dice colors can be tough for colorblind people to tell apart. You don’t even really need to sacrifice the visual look of the game; just put some black dots on the blue/green dice, and they’d be way easier to tell from purple/red! Second, I’ve heard some complaints that the personal objectives are too powerful, and out-prioritize the other scoring mechanisms (see Watch it Played’s two videos of them playing, where at the end, both players got over half their points from just the personal objectives). I also think they could use a bit more variation than just summing all the dice of a specific color. Third, one thing that’s personal to me, and just a minor irritant, some of the theming; specifically, the titles of the tool cards. I get the designers wanted to add to the feel of the game and show off their research, but it just ends up being random titles and names that have no logical connection to the actual function and throw you out of the experience. I mean, would you have guessed based on the names Eglomise Brush and Copper Foil Burnisher that the two tools have extremely similar functions? (The former lets you move one die in your pane ignoring color restrictions in your pattern; the other does the same except for shade restrictions.) And how does Glazing Hammer translate into “reroll all the dice in the pool”, or Grinding Stone to “flip over the die you drafted”? And so on for all the other tools. Considering that with the other titled entities, they gave mostly-meaningless, pleasant-sounding Italian phrases for the window patterns, and didn’t even try to theme the objectives, why here? Especially since it would be pretty easy to give some of these thematic titles if they weren’t so selectively strict about being period-accurate? Ie, the Lens Cutter tool (shown in Watch it Played’s videos), which lets you replace a drafted die with one from the round track, could easily be called something like “Salvage Searcher” (since you’re taking a die that went unused in previous rounds). Again, this is just a minor nitpick, but it looks like something that would consistently annoy me. Regardless, this still looks like a great (and beautiful) game, with these complaints being minor at best and something I’ll have to test when I get to play.

Why don't they even offer it for pre-order which would prove that a lot of people want it which would also give them immediate cashflow to get a large run started and would cut down on cost and get it done cheaper and maybe faster... /rant
