why will nifty of 50 give same return as a select 15/50? point is - these specifics have fallen a lot or already had a long time correction upto multiple years, and hence might generate a good alpha over the broader index which include overvalued companies.. how much alpha and by when only future will tell but this is the core thought process

Tata motors has lower PE due to the EV tax benefits, adjusted PE should be around 17-18 levels not 8.5, if revenue continues to slip then PE could be as high as 24.

I still prefer the MF route . It's easy to plan, easy to link to your goals, easy to take out in a systematic manner. Moreover no need to time the market and look for cheap stocks. I am sure all those investing in these stocks are without any plan and without any goals Most of them will not have a clue how many and how much to invest in each one and when to exit.
