All of them are/was. Its how showbiz works in japan. They call them "idols". Edit - honestly is how work everywhere, if u are ugly or not eye-pleasant good luck if u want to be a artist nowdays. To me , she was the most beautiful in the Band-Maiko video Gion-Cho. In the costume of a maiko, with the white makeup and the way she holds her head and neck erect was just breathtaking. The shot of her in the carriage holding herself like that was just amazing, and how it dovetailed with the beautiful lyrics of Miku, who also looked so enigmatic. And Akane and Misa also looked fantastic, with Misa also with her head erect and looking magnificent. Akane looking over her shoulder as she was on the steps was another fantastic scene. There are just so many great things about the video. I admire the ladies immensely, having to wear the heavy and ornate costume, even though it was only one quarter of the weight of the entire traditional costume. I had looked up about maiko and oiran and was amazed at how complex and intensive the young ladies who go into that profession have to work.
