I'm sure it's doable, but I don't have the skills to do it. I'd like to see a sail that could be fitted to any trike! I have a recumbent trike with a big fairing. With the wind from behind the fairing acts as a sail if the wind is strong. It really makes a difference. I can imagine what a real sail would do.

With the wind we have in Miami today. A guy would wind up on somebody's rooftop with sails that big

A yachtsman and a cyclist!!!! This looks like so much fun, until you accidentally gybe into oncoming traffic from a 25 mph backing wind gust.

hey James! My resolution for 2017 is to be optimistic and I anticipate oncoming traffic would come to a halt in amazement and envy of the awesomeness of what they are witnessing. :)

Hi, I really wonder, any progress during those five years? I cant stop thinking about putting a small sail on my bike (upright) and I am looking for any useful designs...

I am embarrassed to say I have not done this yet. I have a very small folding bike that I repaired and planned on using to make a sale by but have not done it. My problem was trying to find a place I could experiment with it and not look like an idiot if it didn't work. A couple of people left some very good helpful comments about how they made their own sailing bike.

@@RobbsHomemadeLife My teacher at school had a saying, that I cant ever forget. If you do something for a first time, you look like an idiot for a while; if you don't do it, you are an idiot for the rest of your life! :) But a place with no traffic for experiments would be nice. I am in Czech rep. and have no place with strong steady winds.. Thanks for your reply! Cheers!

Hey thanks for replying. I have the same problem. It's hard to find a place without a lot of traffic that has nice wind and there is a road and not just sand and gravel. But I still haven't given up on it.

Hey Robb, would like your take and opinion on making a murphy bed. Have a couple of applications for using, one is Bill M's van conversion, think that would be neat to have murphy bed in rv conversion. Anyway your thoughts or ideas on making one would be appreciated. Only live a couple of miles from Murphy bed mfr. (Bedder Way) but man they are expensive, Even used they seemed high. Thanks Robb...

hey Joe, I have never thought about making my own murphy bed, but there are a lot of van camper videos on YT you might get some inspiration. Here is a video i watched today and the owner converted a small Astro van and used a folding bench bed he got for $40 from a van conversion at a junk yard. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXmzm6CZdqaXha8
