The mystery switch is incomplete indeed, however, it is missing a Bakelite screw-on ball, you can still see the broken thread in the end there, the ball would stop it from ejecting in to the battery bay, whomever used it, smashed the ball end, thus shearing the thread. Not really worth fixing, much better and far more reliable systems available today, of which i'd recommend having at least two above deck and bellow deck just in case. Also, congrats on 20000!!! Here's to 20000 more in the next months, this channel, and you, certainly deserve it.

That switch that flies out is a current fuse. Yes it is broken. The center section is a spring that changes shape when it gets hot, and moves away from the contactor pins. Bin it! It's seen better days and is a fire hazzard. A new resettable fuse is in order.

Considering the over all condition of Athena's hull, deck, ports, and wiring...I'm just glad you and your friends got back safely from Scotland! It's amazing how a poorly kept vessel can still function. I am enjoying the wiring episodes. This is where my skills in DIY are shallow to say the least. Cabinetry, woodworking, painting, staining, diesel mechanics, sewing are all in my wheelhouse. Wires are the dark side. You have taught me more than you know and are giving me the confidence I need to press forward. Happy New Year to you and yours. Have a blessed 2017.

I salute your fearlessness and confidence. You inspire confidence and hope. I can think of few people that would strip virtually all of the wiring from a boat and expect there to be the prospects of a completed project in the not too distant future. Best wishes for 2017 and I look forward to being inspired.

WOW! Another Awesome Video! I will bet, that you now realize just lucky you were, sailing this boat from Scotland to Denmark... now knowing all of the electrical hazards that were waiting to go wrong! I know I am late to the party, but I have been binge watching your Athena Project for the past 2 days. Your videos are very professional, In fact they are far and away better than most of the DIY shows on Cable, and light years better than some of the productions I've seen on Boat Maintenance on Amazon Prime Video. Sure, some of the "S/V "Boobies in paradise" channels are okay, but I am learning so much about what to expect when I buy a boat. You have taught me that "Access is king", and that there isn't much onboard the boat that is overly complicated. You have really demystified the process of refitting a boat, at least, for me! Thank you for your continuing inspiration... But why do have make your videos so damn fun to watch? I can't stop!

Thanks for the continuing nurturing of my OCD, it seems to be a common strength/affliction of technical people, like myself. Looking forward to following your progress into the 2017s.

Keep up the good work sir. Happy new year and thank you.

I've been binge watching you're channel since I found it a couple days ago. High quality editing! Like the shorter beard. I'm for forcing faster hull drying by plastic tenting and a small electric heater. Supper impressed with your grasp of English. I can barely order a beer in one or two different languages. Thought I was the only one with that freaky satisfaction of tearing into old electrical like that. I would love to see more content regarding system integration, meaning wifi, power management, tv, speaker, sending unit/gauges. Love the audio books myself, good way to get lost in the ..... sanding. Ever make it to the west coast of the US? Keep up the good work.

I thought there was a lot of wire behind the control panel. Then I saw what was under the floor ! OMG !! OCD is not necessarily a "bad thing" if you can control it ! Before you start final re-assembly you need to be sure that there are no compartments that don't have drains to the bilge and that all parts of the bilge has limber holes that allow water to drain to the bilge pump.

Happy New Year, here's to a plentiful 2017! And my, what a change that electric system has undergone, from a rats' nest to what you're going to make with it, really cool results in sight. An advice, get some proper engine hose clamps and remove the really inappropriate cable ties, they are never a good engine management solution unless you're RoadKill (a KZbin car show).
