I enjoyed the video fantastic job. As far as the paint since this such a above average boat it should stand out. I recommend a orange color with a brown strip. A white boat makes it just a part of the herd. Your boat is a step ahead of the usual factory build and should stand out. One of a kind.

since you have acess to weldiing equipment (and by now a bit of experience on it) you could make your guardrail into a solid one by welding the stanchions with some ss tubing and in doing such you could double that by joining the stanchions at about 2 inches from the the deck. this way you would avoid drilling more holes on the deck and fiddling with yet more woodwork whilst creating a very secure structure to which you can safely clip on and a toe rail at the same time. im not sure in terms of initial costs but surely you will save time and money in the future. great episode as always!

Mads - the boat is looking very sharp, super nice lines. One thing I am sure you are onto is the chance of stubbing feet (bare feet in particular) on those SS fittings holding the wooden toe rail. I have done this myself many times on yacht decks and ouch and blood. I am sure you have factored in minimising protruding bolt heads (eg countersink) and round off all corners and edges. Will be interested to see your CAD render when you get it done. BTW - we are down in Australia, and in our summer 35C is warm, 40+C is hot - 30C is a pleasant summer's day.

Bright Red Boot Stripe!!
@svbarryduckworth6284 жыл бұрын
I have said it before but those first 6-8 inches of hull above the waterline will be the majority of the work of keeping the hull clean since it is a transition zone between the wet and the dry. Mineral strains, or "beard" is a yellow grunge stain that shows up very clearly against white paint or geocoat. Most cruising boats will need this beard "shaved" or cleaned off every few weeks when in filthy water that is around many inland waterways and canals. It is just one more job that you don't want to do all the time when living the high life of cruising. A strip of darker color such as blue, red, or green will hide the stains much longer between cleanings, especially if there is no "reveal" between the boot stripe and the coppercoat bottom. A 6-8" boot stripe is also an easy small painting project at haulout time to fix small nicks and scratches that inevitably occur at the waterline. It doesn't take much time or materials to do the whole strip around the boat and doesn't need to be faded into the rest of the hull paint job or require repainting the entire hull. Best of all it doesn't even need to be done right now. It can be added next time the boat is hauled out when you decide you are sick of cleaning that bottom few inches of yellow stains all if the time or have chips/scratches in the paint at the waterline. Ease of cleaning/maintenance of the finish at waterline the real reason boot stripes exist. PS I love your seacocks and fiberglass backing. I did the same on our boat with off the shelf fiberglass sheet from McMaster Carr. Epoxied down with a fillet around the outside they are a thickened/strengthened part of the fiberglass hull now.

Casper, you're looking a little ghoulish! ;) I have just subscribed recently and am catching up at random before I go back and catch it all in order later. I am impressed at the quality of the work you do and degree of planning that you put into it. I'm sure if it weren't for the latter, the former would suffer. I'm almost bewildered how you seem to know all the American language idioms! I like the lines of the Warrior 38! I'll have to do some research on it to learn more about them. I would suggest an "informative" waterline boot stripe. One that enables you to tell how far below or above the design water line you are based on the extra weight from surplus stowage! One that enables you to tell at a glance when you return to the boat if it is taking in water. For me, I will need to show 2 waterlines, one for the fresh water of the Great Lakes here in Michigan, USA, and one for when I take it to sea in salt water.

Straight reading verniers now eh? Ya know, I have done dial and digital through my years on and off but now will only use straight reading veneers. Takes a bit of eye sight but they are simple :) and no batteries needed to switch between whatever and metric. Got mine from Moore and Right in the UK and good to .0015". 36 USD. Plenty close enough for what most do. I do not worry about delicate dial mechanisms or batteries or razz-matazz crap. They just work straight up.

Perforated toe rails are often used to attach rigging, such as blocks for spinnaker guys. You might want to make sure each of your toe rail brackets has a possibility of attaching a block, or some other kind of rigging, with enough load-bearing capacity for a sail (i.e. enough to pull the boat along!)
@evangatehouse56504 жыл бұрын
And for furling line blocks - for the furler. I'd put a solid 6-8mm round bar bail at each bracket, shaped like a quarter circle.

@@danielbuckner2167 you don't want the try isolation mounted or fluids in will tend splash out and on the under side of the generator.

pgreenx Because it is a motor generator or gen set. I don’t know where the phrase gen set first started; however, it was called that very early on in the elevator industry in the U.S.. Once the gold standard in the elevator industry, now they are almost never used on new installations.

Mads, right now that sanded part of the primer looks like a light grey stripe and I think that looks awesome. It's subtle but looks really good! Maybe paint that upper part of the hull a similar color or very slightly darker? You could still put color stripes on it later, but this would be a good safe start. Thanks for your fantastic videos -- you brighten my Sundays!
