Thank you for this video, made me cry. I am a Chilean living overseas for a long time and being away taught me to be grateful and a lot more humble. The only reason that these places exist is that the absence of humans. The harsh weather and isolation of this territory make it possible for nature to stay this way. The whole world should be gorgeous, it is men power that damages everywhere they touch. This little population of Native Chileans are self-efficient and do respect nature more than anyone I know. Big powerful nations have no idea how to do this, as they are spoil and money-hungry. I hope soon we all in perfect harmony can preserve more places in the world, so life's beauty takes over garbage. The best in your next travels!

Erika, Thanks for watching and your comment. Agree with you, that was one of the take aways from the trip, the feeling that in places no man had ever set foot due to the harsh environment and thereby it has kept its beauty and wilderness. To make as little impact as possible is important and is one of the reasons for me and my partner to move away from a society where consumption is regarded as part of development and moved on to our boat, right now in Greece. So I agree with your thoughts. Take care and hope you will have a chance to go back to your native country and experience the beauty once more,

@@EMagnusLinden Being away from Chile to a place where many people dream to live taught me that less is more. With my great education, I only found a disconnection and hungry money-oriented people, racism, and inequality. Where the mentality is nothing ever is enough. I don't want to be part of a world that is that selfish and one to its own. That is not what God intended! Now I want to work hard for several years and take off with my husband and live simply as possible in a sailboat.

Distinguished and adventurous Swedish citizen, worthy representative of ancient and courageous Viking navigators from cold and beautiful northern lands, I can only tell you that you should have reached the end of the world to crown your beautiful journey: the small Chilean city of Puerto Williams (Navarino Island). It is not the end of the world, but much further south, that is, to the Cape Horn archipelago, the so-called "Navigators' Everest"; the true geographical end of the world, and the last corner of the American continent before reaching Antarctica. We visited a few of the places that you have shown but you have covered so very much more in your voyage with Milo. I love your back ground music that is so fitting to the beautiful and wild scenery that you have covered. I so much wish to visit more closely the Patagonian wilderness. @@EMagnusLinden I will make sure of that. I was surprised you could do it in 2 months. May I ask, what was the reason for sometimes not having the anchor down?
@EMagnusLinden5 жыл бұрын
Judith Jacobsen when we knew the wind would come from any direction and we were landlocked with land close we thought it was better and safer with lines a shore (with chafe gear) than an anchor that could drag in places with a lot of kelp on the bottom. Also it made it possible for a fast escape if needed, just drop all lines and go. But a lot of time we anchored with at least two lines ashore when we were not landlocked.

Look delicious. Your yacht what size ?i presume steel or aluminium. I wish you good luck and all the best from Ireland.

I noticed that you tied off to trees, rocks and other land based location. Is anchoring not allow or does the bottom not present a good anchoring opportunity?
@EMagnusLinden3 жыл бұрын
Anchoring is allowed it is just that with unpredictable strong gusty winds from all directions you need to “fixate” the boat in the anchorages (calderas) and a solid rock or sturdy tree has more reliable holdingpower than an anchor resetting in a wind shift or the pressure from a beam storm gust.

That's a great video and great soundtrack. What was the first song used?

Thanks for your kind words and for watching the video. The music is created and performed by Johnny Östergren, a friend that compose and record music in his spare time and is vey generous letting me use his music in my videos. I think the first tune is called Killigan. He has a KZbin channel with some of his work (far from all) and the link is. Feel free to contact him: kzbin.info

I really enjoyed your video. I have been to Ushuaia on a trip to Antarctica on the Bark Europa. I found Tierra del Fuego very interesting, and a wild, beautiful place. Have you read Joshua Slocum's account of sailing the Strait of Magellan?

Mirror Cruising Thanks for watching. Fantastic area and great that you have been there with Europa (was there a crew membrer called Leah Sweet on board with you?). Yes I read Slocum and his encounter with the natives and tacks on deck, allthough it was a while back now. Sometimes I find books from sailors cruising in the past and it is fashinating (and sometimes scary) to realize how much has changed. All the best, Magnus
