Congrats on getting the new Raymarine equipment. I love my Axiom and Quantum Radar. It works well with the 2008 vintage components, which I won't replace until they stop working. Having wireless lets me see the chart plotter/radar screen on a tablet from my bunk while I'm underway single handed. Using the radar at night is a game changer when sailing solo, and it uses very little power. Having the autopilot remote control is a great thing to have as well. Thanks for the video!

Trying to teach myself NMEA 2K and marine electronics in general. We just bought a 2004 Hunter 44 Deck Salon and I assumed (remember that word starts w/ “ass” as in I am a jackass for assuming anything) that the new Garmin 942XS chart plotter was connected to all of the Raymarine instruments and auto pilot…not so much. After learning about NMEA 2K AND that all devices need to be connected by cables AND then realizing there is only a pwr cable going into the back of the Garmin AND that all of the Raymarine stuff on my boat is probably original to the boat and likely can’t even talk to the new chart plotter…my heart sank and I realized I had a lot to learn and a lot of work ahead of me. Thank you for the education. Only thing I’m fuzzy on is running cable. You showed a little bit on running the mast cable but not any of the other cables. I’m just wondering if you have any tricks/techniques on finding all the hardware that needs to be replaced, tracing cable runs and pulling new. What type of problems/opportunities did you run into. Thank you for the video!

good video. Thanks for doing it. As you did, we just connected our Seatalk 1 to Seatalk NG, but went a bit farther because I have a Garmin Chartplotter, we connected the Seatalk NG to a NEMA 2000. This I believe is a similar way of thinking that occurred in the past sometime in the music industry for electronic instruments and they called it MIDI. Musical Instrument Digital Interface. So Korg, Yamaha, Kawai etc all decided to sit down and work out a protocol that could communicate between different brands of electronic musical instruments. This freed up the choice of purchase so one could buy a drum machine by one brand maker and electronic keyboard by another brand maker and a wind synthesiser produced by different company that would all talk to each other nice and smoothly. Great video great presentation 11 out of 10.
