HOW-TO MEASURE FOR NEW SAILBOAT SAILS
In this episode we show you how to measuring a head sail, with thanks to Kemp Sails. We take you through our sail measurements and sail dimensions on board Sailing Indiana.
We get out the sailboat sail measuring calculator from Kemp Sails. As full time cruisers we have to constantly maintain our Sailboat so we can sail around the world, from the UK across the Channel, across the Bay of Biscay and more!
Its time to get some new sails for our 35 year old sailboat!

Good luck with the new sail and great to hear that you will be heading off to the Med soon. Like Christmas with that lovely box of Imray goodies! Had my first Imray chart Y6 and pilotage book for the East Coast when I was 14 years old, still have the book, all in black and white with the most amazing smell from the early printers ink used back then, about 1966!

Getting new sails is pretty cool. I am hoping that you show the maps you are using in each of the locations when you get there. The books are really awesome. Enjoying the video even if Lauren does't know the difference between a mace and mast. ;)

when measuring from a higher point to a lower point (i.e.: the centerline to the track), you can hang a plumb bob type thing from the tape that would give you an exact spot instead of "eyeballing" it. If you want to be exact, you could place a level on the tape to insure a 90 deg angle to the lower point. A simple string with a loop to slide along the tape with a big washer to hang down to the track.

Question For your Med Trip - Given the new EU Brexit Constraints how will you plan to address the 90 day Schengen stay issue for EU Countries?

Great question! So we are going to just go with it for the first three months and see how far we get (hoping we can reset in Gib for a bit too). Next plan is the Spanish digital nomad visa but after 6 months you have to pay 15% tax in Spain.
