Aberystwyth is a very friendly marina, they have a good fish festival in normal times but like Pwllheli and others, they are struggling to maintain depth. A very good vid with lots of info and delivered by the probably the best accent in the world.

No probs with Pwllheli, I keep my boat there and its almost 24/7 access . Only two tides a year I cant get out whenever I want

Last time i made the trip from Barmouth to Aberdovey it took me 4.5 hours as i had to motor most of the way and the drive shaft was starting to seize up.. barely made it in.. next Monday i took my boat out in Ynyslas where she stayed until now for a big overhaul

did you pass to the east of both cardinals - if so how was the sea over the shallows?

Hi Jon, yes we did but sea ok cos wind and tide weren’t opposed, basically flat with a little white ruffle to the surface which lasts only a couple of minutes. Regards mike

What would you say a comfortable boat size to sail coastal UK and beyond? how long is swallow?

Hiya, could talk about this forever. Size has nothing to do with seaworthiness. Swallow is just over 27 foot over the deck with a LOA about 29 foot. I think she would go anywhere but I’ve been on bigger boats that should be on lakes. Sailboatdata.com gives a good insight to seaworthiness. Check the comfort ratio and capsizing formula. You can learn a lot from this site. Regards mike
