.... as we were getting ready for our "big" trip. We continue to attempt living a normal live aboard during Vancouver's coldest winter. We still managed to find time and weather windows to go teach ourself how to sail and explore some of the great landscapes we have in our backyard like Morraine Lake,, Squamish, Whistler, etc.... just to name a few since we wouldn't be "home" for a while. And finally, we adopt an adorable 8 week old puppy, our Kona girl.
IN THE NEXT EPISODE... we sail the Howe Sound some more and start to build our mainsail from scratch with a Sailrite Kit. Stay tuned!

Makes me want to go back out West at one point. And it's great that you can actually keep your sailboat in the water. So different than the East Coast.

The West coast is pretty sweet but I definitely love the tropical Southern weather. :D

When you wash lines.. try tossing them in a net bag or pillow case and tying it shut.

We learned something from an old yachty yesterday (we're in Cowichan Bay). He said buy your new sails down south. They're made of lighter fabric and are great for all different wind conditions. Sail makers in N.America tend to make them with heavy fabric. So when you are in light winds they're not as good.

I think it all depends on what kind of sailing you're planning to do. If you're planning to go offshore, heavy duty dacron might be a better solution. If you're planning to do more coastal cruising, light sails would be best. Making our own sail was a cool experience. @sailrite provides great tutorial videos and support.

At the end, he doesn't know "sailboat" but the F bomb is clear as a bell. I approve.

Merci beaucoup! :)

Many young Americans/Canadians taking part in documentary/mass media appeal programs appear to think f--k is fine to use as an everyday conversation filler. Videos like yours have mass appeal over a wide spectrum of viewers from the impressionable young to older people. Currently there is an ex-pat Canadian who in one of her videos tells us what she hates about Great Briton, using unnecessary expletives is something I personally find distasteful. Safe sailing.
