No kicking strap! Boom is bouncing up and down! Do they really not come with one? Shrimpers have a kicking strap. I'm sure the sail will be much better with a kicking strap. New Crabber 24's have one.

I think the thought pattern went long boom, long gaff, let the gaff swing and ease the load on the leech, but I really don’t know. Everything is worth a try mike

Mike what make of boat is Sea ma chilli?

She is a 2006 Cornish Crabber 24 MK4 built by Select Yachts. Only the MK3 and MK4 24’s were made for offshore work.

Thanks Mike, Really informative video. I have a Crabber 24 and for various reasons have not used it much but this is the year, your videos have inspired me to give it a go rather than sell. I will have to single hand and you make it look easy, hopefully it will be so for me on the east coast (Swale/Thames estuary) Cheers, Chris C
