Are you still happy with your boat performance ? Can see you are trying to keep up with some really fast boats.

That’s a great question, the performance of my boat is much better than most would have you believe. Most boats have an average speed on long passages of 6-7-8 knots. We tend to be about 6.5 knots average. The big Cats do better than that but it’s not massively higher. On the ocean most sailors speak in terms of Nautical Miles / Day. We are a 160 NM / day boat, some days more some days less, our highest 12 hr is 115 NM but the 12 hours that followed were abysmal. Further when you chat to the boats that are capable let’s say 220 NM days most have a very uncomfortable passage, the boat just smashes around when doing 12-15 knots, so they tend to slow things down. We are cruising not racing and comfort is paramount. I do not try to “keep up” to any boat on the open ocean, I sail my boat my way. Would I love to be the owner of an Outremer 5X ? Damm straight I would but it does cost 3X as much as our portly Lagoon. So in summary, I love my boat and I definitely do not regret purchasing her, for us it is just about perfect. 95% of our time afloat is going 0 knots and we shine in the anchorage. Hope that helps Cheers Scott

from our experience, L 400 sailed like 43-45 cruising cat and was more comfortable. This was in strong reaching conditions. There must be something about hull shape that gives this extra performance. So far, from 11 days at sea on passage, we are also very close 160 NM per day average. But afraid to push beyond 10 kn so far.

My favorite line when asked about the Lagoon 400S2 is. “ my boat does not not do anything exceptionally well but in return it does nothing bad.” A middle of the road production Catamaran that is manufactured by the largest Catamaran manufacturer, every aspect of the boat is well thought out, because of that when I’m done sailing her it will be easy to resell due to her large following. Cheers

Very enjoyable video! You mentioned your Weather Router Mr. Parker, would it be possible for you to elaborate on that relationship in a future video? I don't recall you covering that in the past, sorry if I missed that one.

Chris and his weather advice have become legendary. He has made our passages very pleasant so far. It’s weather so I’m expecting him to get wrong one day but so far he has been brilliant.

Ken Kaz hi! Glad to hear that we could feed your addiction, lol. We are planning to leave NZ, land of good wifi in 3 weeks or so, so lots of NZ footage coming your way soon. Cheers

Ken Kaz the motor seized up on the water maker, so we had the brushes replaced and relocated it inside. We ordered a new motor and just put it in last week. Lots of money spent here in NZ! We will edit a video about more of our repairs next, stay tuned.

Minerva has no land on high tide, Tonga and Fiji have and still do battle over who owns it. A wonderful respite in the middle of the ocean. Cheers

What happened to your watermaker, to many cold showers? 😊
@offthestarboardhull89135 жыл бұрын
R. E. Hill yes, we are water hogs, haha. The water seized up and the brushes were replaced and the motor was relocated inside. That worked for a few months but we just replaced the motor. Good thing we are in NZ. We will edit our haul out video next - lots of $ spent here... Cheees
