Yeah, I'm really going to try and put out an informational video.

If your Determined to use the stainless steel steps on the Aluminum mast buy some tunes of isolating material to separate the two products both on the flat surfaces and In the holes drilled for the screws. This approach is going to give you your best shot at preventing Calvanic action from occurring.

I'm definitely going to research this project a wee bit more before I tackle it. Back when I worked for a yacht dealer we routinely used self tapping stainless screws on booms and masts. But I know things can be done differently ! 👍

Hi. Hope all goes well with your projects, however you may be better to use rivets on the mast steps than self tapping screws. Don't forget the problem with dissimilar metals and corrosion.

You know, that's not a bad idea. I have a rivet gun too. And it would probably be easier than trying to screw 100 plus screws. I will look into it. 👍👍

Ok, I've been thinking about what you said about retiring at 62 so you could go sailing and live life while you were able. It's really none of my business but I'm going to butt in anyway. DON'T it will be the single biggest mistake i Of your life. Ask your self these questions Will my social security cover all my expenses Consider health insurance. Boat insurance Money enough to replace sails, rigging, engine repairs or replacement Water maker Sufficient solar power to run a refrigerator, lights electronics, some way to wash cloths, heat and air. Remember I'd your sailing to Foreign ports without proper insurance most countries won't ket you in. I don't want to burst your bubble but just take a cruise down the St Johns and look at all the abandoned derelict boats and I can assure you each and every one of them represents somebody's ill conceived Dream. I only say these things because I personally know people that did it and ended up with nothing. Yoy seem like a really nice guy and I'd hate to see you end up with the same fate

Hey Dave, I do appreciate you thinking about me but rest assured that I have given plenty of thought and preparation to this. I'm not going until both me and the boat are ready. But I'm very hopeful that I can make it happen this year. I'm dedicating this year to getting the boat ready, and then we'll see how ready I am. Fingers crossed but I am very optimistic !
