Hi guys, very interesting watching this video, we have wintered here in Licata this year in Marina Di Calla Del Sole, it's been fantastic ! we have done a few trips, Rome and Malta flying out of Catania each time. We've now sold our Jeanneau 54 DS to an Aussie couple who introduced me to your channel as they are very interested in your Schengen shuffle solution... They arrive here at the end of May for survey and handover etc. Keep up the great work, your videos are really well put together, fair winds and following seas...

Hi Dave, thank you. We are so glad you are enjoying the videos. Unfortunately we only got to stay in Licata for a day. We enjoyed our short time there and thought the marina and town were great. Hope you have another boat in your future soon. Regards Jude and Richard

Following along on Google Maps. Zooming in and making mental notes. I love Geography. I'm surprised at the Islands that are Italian, even though they are considerably closer to Tunisia. Tracino, Linosa, Lampedusa, and even Malta. I would have passed through there on a Navy Vessel as a US Marine in 1983, had my father not passed away just as my unit was heading to Lebanon on a 6 month float. Since I was young and insignificant to my unit, I was easily replaced. Perhaps fate though, as the Marine Barracks in Beirut was bombed by a suicide bomber toward the end of that tour of duty in October of 1983. 241 Marines died as well as several other service members (Navy) on October 23, 1983.

That’s an interesting story. Thank you. There is a large Maltese population in Melbourne I (Jude) knew many Maltese growing up there in the 80s but I’d never paid any attention to the country. It has an interesting history so strategically placed in the Med and with a spectacular defendable coastline. And yes, it’s surrounded by Italian islands. Thanks for watching (and commenting). Jude
