Thanks so much for the tour around the Baltimore Harbor area. What a beautiful day to be on or near the water. Of course, any day that's not pouring down raining, would fit the bill. Looked like a really good Farmer's Market. Hey, didn't you know that donuts are good for you too. Take care, Mike, stay safe and I'll see you next week. Have a good sail.

Hello Mike! Jacquie and I loved the video tour of Baltimore, the history lesson and boat ride. You seem very relaxed and at home on the boat. We look forward to future video updates. Again, a HUGE congratulations on completing both the PCT and AT hikes. Those were both epic, monstrous achievements! Also, it was fun meeting you at Trail Days. 😀

Ted, thanks for reaching out I enjoyed meeting both of you. Before thru-hiking, sailing was my first love. I hope that comes out in my Chesapeake Bay videos.

Thank you once again for creating this video. This one brings back memories from family visits, decades ago. As far as speed... you are retired, and have earned your "slow travel ". It doesn't matter to types of travel, it is all better, more relaxed at a slower rate. Thank you for including the morning gathering of swallows. I can't wait for next week. Thank you again for taking us along.

What a great tour from a military man! Thank you sir! It would have been an honor to serve under you, I was a captain in the US army nurse corp and now I serve veterans at the VA. Whenever I see a sailing ship I always think of David Crosby and his song "wooden ships" I don't know if you know anything about David Crosby from Crosby, Stills and Nash, but he was a captain of his own ship, a wooden schooner that he sailed all over the world.

Great song choice. I also like Crosby's "Southern Cross."

Hi Mike, another great video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Baltimore and the sights to see. Makes me want to go tomorrow. You have a great way of making your videos to show as much as you do and keep the story moving. Glad you were able to share the flag raising with your dad. My trip would have to be a car, but would love to know how to sail. What is your history of sailing to get you where you are today? How do the dinghy's work with bringing them to shore? Is it the honor system and hope no one takes it? And your videos are so clear, are you still using the same camera you used on the AT? Have safe travels with you and your wife. Be Strong, Be Safe, and thanks for taking us on this journey.

I came from a motorboat/fishing family but tried to sail as much as I could. The first sailboat of any significant size we have owned is the one you see in the video. We jumped into the deep end. However, I do have a commercial Masters 50 ton license and my wife is a certified OUPV captain. I also owned a successful marine survey business in the Florida Keys for three years. So, we know more about boating than most on the water. I am using my phone to film and edit. However, I am discovering how I don't have to worry about camera weight while living on a boat like when I hike, so I imagine my camera accessories will increase. Dinghies are essentially a person's car. There are chart guides that help in finding out where one can tie up. Government owned docks are typically the best bet. As for locking up the dinghy, I typically take the key out of the engine. I will also lock the dinghy to the dock if I am not sure. For example, I didn't lock the dinghy in Annapolis, but I did in Baltimore.

Hi Mike. Just wondering if sailing is something you grew up doing or picked up as an adult? As a hiker I really enjoyed following your AT thru hike. I know nothing about sailing, but looking forward to your videos. Thanks for the content. RLTW

A little bit of both. I sailed when I could on friends' boats, as a child and adult. And my Dad owned a motorboat when we lived in the northwest. But the first boat of any significant size that my wife and I purchased is the one you see in the video. We jumped in the deep end with both feet.

Hey man, great channel! Question: what type of furler do you have? I have a Catalina 30 that I keep in Eastport, in Annapolis, and I think I have the same furler, but I could never figure out the manufacturer. I’ve had various problems with it, and I’ve had to just do improvised repairs. It looks like you have the same one as I do. Thanks again for all the great content!

Mine is a Profurl. It came with the boat. Only issue I have had is the owner before me used a line with a large diameter, which caused binding problems. I switched to a thiner rope and have not had an issue since.
