Looking good. Keep the videos coming. Any Hobie Tandem Islands in the Texas 200?

yes, they are real popular on this run. We had 6 TIs in the event and only one of then sank and the crew rescued..... The rest rocked the run.

@@ZiggyLavengood Wow, TI sank, love to hear that story, root cause, how to avoid in future!

@James Powers they went down crossing Corpus Christi Bay headed to Stingray Hole. They were struggling when I passed them with the bow cresting the waves a bit high. From what I heard the front hatch came open and filled with water and down she went. I understand they went back later and somehow salvaged the boat so all is good. Over all I think the boat was overloaded with 2 ppl and a weeks worth of gear. It was a husband wife team (insert women overpacking joke here). I didn't witness it but that is how the news was reported from the coconut telegraph. Maybe someone with 1st hand knowledge will chime in.

@@ZiggyLavengood OK Thanks for the update. Agree that if the TI was carrying two people and fully loaded, the TI can sit very low in the water....combined with the notorious TI front hatch leaks with waves over the bow.... the TI can become a submarine very quickly. Glad they were safe and able to fish the TI out of Corpus Christi Bay. The TIs are tough boats. Been after Hobie to redesign the TI and fix the front hatch issue....but no luck so far....

Hey Ziggy, has anyone used a self-steerer on a Windrider or a Hobie tri? Seems like it might be a good idea on some of the long legs, allowing you to get up and move around a little. I imagine it gets old being stuck in one seat for several hours!
@ZiggyLavengood2 жыл бұрын
It does. That's why I extended me plank back alongside the cockpit so I can sit up there once in awhile. I have seen where ppl put tiller autopilots on them. It would be nice when hoisting the main.

Great job on your videos. They are a lot of fun and I feel like I'm tagging along. Question: will you be doing the Everglades Challenge next year? It would be great to see it from your perspective, good video, and sound quality. Thanks for your videos. Cullen Corsair F-31R "Delta Vee" Honolulu, Hawaii

No plans for the EC at this point but that could change in the future. I have a lot of ppl in Florida so a base camp would be easy. sweet boat you have there, you need to post some videos of her in action! Thanks for the shout out, Zig
