I love your speed on the water. 5 knots is good for a small mono hull. For you it's slow.

I downsized from a 34 ft cruiser/racer monohull that took a 1st in the port Huron-mackinaw race (largest freshwater race in the world). This little plastic boat is a lot faster.. it gets crazy.

I saw/heard what you did with the coffee, very nice. The bay seemed lively but you've posted much worse butt kickings.

Didnt make it this year, need to get the mast repairs done before next year's outing. Was hoping to do the abbreviated short version from our home port of Rockport, but that was a bridge too far as well :( Great vid as usual Zig

The hatch was torn open and filled with eayer is what I was told. I passed them in the bay and they were struggling with the conditions.

@@ZiggyLavengood maybe it was just the perspective of the video, but even on the flat/calm water that boat (assuming a tandem island) was sitting very low, and looked over loaded. I'm very glad to hear everyone was OK in the end.
@ZiggyLavengood
@ZiggyLavengood 2 жыл бұрын
@@rustyw3196 It was sitting low. When I passed them in the bay they were struggling. bow high in the air. I'm told the hatch came open on the storage compartment up front and that was enough to do it in. They went back later, found the boat and salvaged it. This is the word passed along to the rest of us anyways.

At about 11: 20 or so you pass something sticking up out of the water. Was that a sunken boat's mast?

No, locals mark the sandbars with poles so they don't run aground. Good eye though

I love these videos and your boat seems great but it looks like you can't really shift positions for hours at a time. It's like being in the driver's seat of a race car. How do you deal with the "bodily needs"? It doesn't look like you can stand up and do business over the side.

I have a hospital style urinal tucked under the seat. As long as I'm in shorts I can use it right from the seat and pour it overboard. long pants require a bit of gymnastics....

What happened to day 5 and 6?
@ZiggyLavengood
@ZiggyLavengood 2 жыл бұрын
day 5 was a mess. started with light air and ended with high winds pinning most of the boats into the ICW unable to cross the bay to Army Hole. A handful of shallow draft boats clung to the islands from the start and fought their way to the island. the rest of us clawed our way to Port O'Connor in the ICW. There we scrambled for anywhere we could tie up for the night. There was an annual fishing tournament happening so all spots and rooms were taken. It was crazy. My power system was limping and I lost all cameras shortly after the day started. I had to chose between cameras or GPS/depth finder and before the end that was hit or miss. so I have very few videos and what I have is at the start of the day with little wind so it's not very interesting as far as telling the story so I didn't try. Day 6 was a quick no wind 2 hour hop on the motor to the finish that no one wants to see so I didn't even try to video it. I have since done a complete refit of my electrics going over to lithium battery and all new wires and connections. Thanks for the shout, Zig UPDATE: OK....You put the idea in my head. I'm going to put together a day 5 video. I blame you! hehe.. If I pull it off I'll post it next Friday so look for it.

@@ZiggyLavengood sorry, it just seemed strange great coverage of first 4 days then nothing. Also sorry to hear it was such a mess. Was sounding like a great adventure, didn't you mention that the year before had some really bad weather also?
@ZiggyLavengood
@ZiggyLavengood 2 жыл бұрын
@@arthurgoussy5801 The year before I was hit by a bad squall that busted up my boat ending my adventure on day 1. right in the same stretch we sailed on day 5 this year. followed by a bad infection from a small bite I didn't know I had on my leg getting into the water and not properly treated. 4 days in the hospital for that stunt. I'll address that and more on the next video. I've already started to edit it.
