Thanks for sharing Annie. I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip to Antarctica. Regarding the surfing you watched/filmed at 5:25, how did you know where on the water it was safe to get close to the breaking waves without being so close to risk capsizing?
@AnnieFord19 жыл бұрын
Hey +Joseph Felber :). We were never closer to Teahupoo than experienced skippers and their dinghies, we've also spent a lot of time around surf and have learnt what's safe over time :)

Hi Annie, nice to see some fellow Tasmanians out there doing it. Thought you might be interested in these u tube clips of another young Aussie couple doing it a little harder than you yacht wise but excellent video uploads due to their careers now seeming to be in that line. Thought there might be some ideas along that wise as well and longer videos please where you can as for those of us shore bound or living the dream through Cruising Helmsman mag or stories like yours the more the better!! You'll probably wonder as well when you come to their marriage on Cradle below the peak by the day hut how the heck they didn't freeze to death but you'll see what I mean when you get to that 1!!

Hi +Robert Kidnie! We had a 46 foot Bavaria. We found many similar boats in the Caribbean that had been gathering dust and lay forgotten for years. I would advise having a chat to our boat broker in the region: www.caraibe-yachts.com/ based in St. Martin! Good luck and I hope you get out there! :)

+Annie Ford, I am interested what was the main reason for you to buy a bavaria cruiser 46? Do you have also a blog with more information?
@Questforthunder9 жыл бұрын
+Annie Ford, Thanks for the info. I've looked at a few of those boats and I must say I think they are very nice. Are there anythings about your boat you change if you could?
@AnnieFord19 жыл бұрын
Hi +jelmer achterkamp! To be honest, the structural integrity and price were huge determining factors. The earlier Bavaria models were well made (for example, solid glass hull and cast iron keel) in comparison to other production yachts. I'm sorry, I actually don't have any further information on the trip! I hope this helps :)

Okay so I have a question, maybe you sort this out online but how do you manage with visas etc when you suddenly have to pop into Ecuador for example, are their more lax rules for sailors or? Always wondered, also how do you manage for Internet? Great content! Carry on Chaps 🇦🇺 ❤️🇬🇧 !
@AnnieFord19 жыл бұрын
Hello +Y-P Alexander Leith! Thanks for your questions. Customs and regulations vary by country, and Ecuador was particularly strict upon arrival. For example, some visas need to be arranged prior to arrival, whereas other countries arrange visas upon arrival. We found www.noonsite.com was helpful :) Re: internet - some videos took 72 hours to upload due to the terrible internet along the way! We relied on internet found onshore at cafes, marinas, etc. Other sailors use IridiumGO and other internet/phone plans. I hope this helps Alexander - feel free to ask any other questions :)

Nice boat, I can't believe you killed an octy. They are a very intelligent animal from a human perspective. But I guess you have to eat.
@saffronsworld15088 жыл бұрын
Michael Vine --- Cooked correctly, the octy is the best tasting creature in the ocean. At least to my taste buds. My wife would argue for lobster. I'm with you -- only take life for required nourishment. Otherwise we can be totally sustained with fruits, nuts, grains, and vegetables. At sea, no orange trees nearby, so the oceans present a smorgasbord of delicacies. Most "civilized" people will not eat the Barracuda, but a local on Okinawa taught me how to prepare it to be quite tasty.
