Fun fact, that fantail is the only fantail found on New Zealand! The reason they're so flirty next to humans is to hunt! They do it to catch any insects that are disturbed by human things like walking. In Māori mythology, they are a messenger, bringing news of death from the gods.

If I may give you a tip, make sure you have at least 1 combustion engine on board, because there have been 3-4 movies where all the electricity will go out what can happen to a neutron bomb. Make sure you have a sextand on board so you don't get into trouble and if necessary a depth lead. I say this for a reason, because we are heading for the great tribulation that lasts no less than 33 years. If you don't believe that, then just rely entirely on electricity and if things really go wrong you can always pray, it's not too late for that.

I've been successful with two anchors, one in deep (enough to float dinghy) water w/ buoy and block a painter loop about 100' long to an anchor on shore. You get 50' of distance. Set the deep anchor come to shore pull the dink back out. When done with shore time pull the dink back in. Saves on swimming when the tide changes. Especially useful in colder water with large ish Tide's. Washington / Canada San Juan's/ gulf islands. I use this technique a lot. Cheers from Northern California!!!

Wow, such clarity in your video I’ve noticed this time! Brilliant. The beautiful colour of the sea helps! But I’m watching on my iPad in bed in our Fiat Globecar motorhome in a field by the sea in Devon, England, and it’s been rather cloudy and rainy today. Wish we were there! Thanks for sharing your adventures

Time for some dinghy wheels :P 16:00 I love the bits about "just sailing" and seeing the process of it, the little steps of problem solving you have to do along the way and such, this makes me giddy. Once you get that new boat with electric drive... never again will you have to justify the use of it or examine the pros/cons of motor sailing. Can't wait for you to have that new freedom, free of "the iron price" of that iron wind. What then would Kent call it... E-Wind? Also, here's to hoping your new boat has a bowsprit so you can put a massive asym spinnaker up for those light wind days. Also also, Curiosity is looking phenomenal, considering how she was holding up after the covid lockdown in Tonga, all those hours of TLC, new sails, new trampolines, enclosures, glass, etc... she's probably the best equipped and looking Leopard 43 on the ocean I would bet. High five, guys!

Life jacket or buoyancy aid in a dingy is a good rule. But better still is the rule that you should have the kill cord from the engine attached to the person in control of the boat????

Guess you could say that winery being closed is *a small price to pay, for salvation* since you got to explore Rotoroa instead And regarding that mushroom: They are actually found all over the place from Europe to North Africa and even the US! It is commonly mistaken for more poisonous mushrooms, so best to just leave it alone if you're not sure. And whether it contains a neurotoxin depends on the subspecies. While others have psilocybin, which is hallucinogenic. Hence the mushroom's name.
