I love that you guys will sail for a few hours to go 10 miles, rather than fire up the diesel. Tack a whole bunch and just go with the wind. It’s not like you’re in a rush, right? STUNNING underwater footage. How nice you can swim there without messing up the coral. Once again… two thumbs up 👍👍. (If I had more thumbs, they’d all be up).
@WEsail Жыл бұрын
Haha well THANK YOU!! It’s an amazing place for sure, and we do worry about the health of the coral with all the traffic it gets, and there must be a LOT of inadvertent touching and rubbing with novice swimmers, but from the looks of everything in the area, it’s somehow managing very well, or people are more careful than they appear… either way, thanks for watching and commenting!!

I’ve put off watching it for a few days because I’ve been caught up in the NCAA basketball tournament one of my favorite things each year and I have had a lot of work to do. Semi retirement means I’m still working. It’s wonderful to see you guys. Happy and healthy and then love doing what you love. Seeing Bora-Bora in the background was nice as my son is. Been lucky enough to have been there twice. I wish you both all the best love

I have been enjoying following your travels through French Polynesia, having sailed a similar route last year, but with only a three-month visa I had only a month in the Society islands. But I got to drift snorkel that amazing coral garden on Tahaa and visit Raitea and all the other islands. By now you are surely well along the way, but just in case not, I'm sure you have learned that when checking out in Borabora they give you a week to leave FP, which is perfect for visiting perhaps the two most wonderful places, Maupiti and Maupihaa, and as there are no gendarmes on those islands you can even push your stays there longer. And for places beyond FP there are of course many guide books and other recent YT channels, but perhaps you would find my amateurish ones useful, especially for Beveridge Reef and Fiji. Any way, thanks for bringing back good memories for me!

Bora Bora and the surrounding islands are without a doubt Paradis on Steroids. Amazing free range saltwater aquarium. You two capture beauty and almost undesirable magic of a world that is frozen in time, and only read about in romantic novels of the secret seven seas. Needless to say, another very groovy episode of a dream world that you bring to all of us. Stay safe and stay groovy. PS If I were you guys, I would perinatally move there, sailing around to the various islands and just grooving with the locals.

Those are some AMAZING anemones. Did you know that the clown anemone fish is only immune to the anemone's sting because they constantly bath in the anemone's poisonous sting? In medieval and renaissance times, poisonings in European courts were so common that apt persons took small amounts of typical poisons so as to be immune from their effects. This is a real and verifiable historical fact that is the exact same method that the clown anemone fish uses.

We keep hearing about the " Climate Emergency " and the worlds reefs are doomed because of rising sea temperatures. What are your thoughts on this topic? Are the sea levels rising also? Are these atolls at risk of rising sea levels? I love your videos!
@WEsail Жыл бұрын
Hey Jeff!! Ya we think about it daily and hear about it weekly… just about every spot we visit, the locals are aware of and discussing all of that- they have seen coasts disappearing, reefs definitely disappearing and weakening, fish populations dwindling, etc… it’s pretty clear from where we sit, I’m sad to say. It’s part of the reason we are doing what we are doing, and as we grow larger and learn more, we hope to be a bigger voice for awareness, or anything we can do to use our platform for positive movements… anyways, thanks for your comment and questions! Please stay tuned, and in touch!

Here I am again. Do you know why those birds are congregating/predating over that area? It must be because of some underwater predator...likely dolphins...is/are hunting and driving the fish to the surface to catch them more effectively, and the birds know that this happens and are there to take advantage. This also happens in Alaskan waters with humpback whales. I saw a video where a group of humpback whales pack-hunted herring, driving them in a circle and to the surface, and then they breached (quite dramatically) to predate the catched fish. Interestingly, when the humpbacks breached (by like ten feet), they took both the herrings AND the gulls that were congregating near the surface. Who knew that humpbacks eat gulls?
