KARL had been waiting patiently for me in Panamarina for about half a year. After two weeks of boat work it was time to take him out again and Maria and me sailed KARL to Guna Yala, also called the San Blas Islands. What a beautiful sail, thank you KARL, it feels good to be back!!!
Enjoy, ahoy and thanks for watching,
Nike & KARL

After 18 months on the hard for a refit we're scheduled to launch this week. Liked your comment about regaining trust in Karl and yourself... We have some apprehension but the desire for adventure prevails. Fair winds.

Just a small advice , if you still read your old season comments. 4 the tuna fish: just use some drops of lime or orange juice, if you want to eat the flesh. Otherwise you can eat the liver and heart still pumping; that is tasting awesome when the catch is alive. ;) thank you for sharing so much fun and adventure.

You've really captured a key insight regarding life. If we want to "see the world", we must "untie the lines". Very little can be seen while we are tied to the dock.

TitusLivy777 You got that right. A person can't really begin to live until they find the edge of their comfort zone and then cross over it. This really pushes a person to make extraordinary discoveries within themselves as well as the huge world they live in. This girl is amazing to say the least, she's out there living the dream.

Always fun to watch. I enjoy the editing and camera work, the angles, focus and subjects you film. Keeps it entertaining. 'Untie the Lines' shows that cruising is not just sun and fun, it's also a lot of hard work. Thanks for keeping it real. Glad you had a perfect sail. Stay safe and I'm looking forward to next Friday.

I think that was a False Albacore you caught in this episode. It is more closely related to a mackerel than a tuna. it is not supposed to the best-tasting fish but impressed you actually made it tasty! You are living the dream!

Woo-hoo 8.5 knots! Yay (Next stop double digits!) And a nice little Tuna too (What Australians call a Mackerel or 'Mack' Tuna) Ha ha, there's ALWAYS a 'small' job list! Great to see you're back where you belong and having a fantastic time! I'm looking forward to my last exam tomorrow (for the time being) and then I can indulge in more of your episodes (I've finally realised I've inadvertently been watching the episodes in the wrong order. Mixing up season 1 with season two and vice versa, so I'm trying to catch up on the ones I have't yet watched...) Take care, fair winds, following seas and tight trolling lines! :-)

Tuna! Fresh is best regardless of type. Just remember to bleed them quick and well, so all that dark iron rich blood doesn't get pumped into all the tasty flesh :-) Great to have you back on the water.

Ah Karl...who can compete with him. He gives you adventure, and new relationships. He takes you to some of the most beautiful places in the world. And what does he get. He gets your devotion, and your help. He has gotten you to fix his worse problems and you have patiently worked on him, and the problems you could not fix for the moment you have accepted him as he is. You have quite a relationship together. :)

Your Injector pump probably has a small air leak, because as I recall your injector pump had lost it's prime when you first got Karl. It's possible one of your steel fuel lines going to the injectors has a small crack, the fittings aren't tight enough or the front seal of the injector pump is worn... I believe that you are going to have to go through this priming procedure every time you leave Karl for the season. There are two places for that fuel to have gone, ONE is the floor of the engine bay (remember that diesel fuel smell you got when you poked that wire into Karl's belly)? The other place is the oil pan. Smell your oil, make sure it does not smell of diesel, check the oil level, it should never RISE. Fuel contamination in the oil has destroyed many engines. You can probably run Karl's engine with the injector pump like that for a while (unless it's dumping a lot of fuel in the pan) but eventually the Inj. pump will need to be rebuilt, I would not say it will never cause a problem, yet it could be a long time before it is a problem... On the other hand I would myself not undertake a cross ocean journey until I found out where the problem is and fixed it. I have known diesel engines to start first pull after 3 years sitting idle. By the way, WD-40 should have worked, you just hadn't used enough I'm sure. I used WD-40 dozens of times to start cold diesels.

@WhiteSpotPirates 8 жыл бұрын
Hi +MISTERComaToes, thanks for your ideas on that topic. it's interesting you say that, cause the injection pump had been refitted in 2009 and put back in. I don't know what was wrong with it, but they said that it got repaired and put back in. But I was wondering if there was a tiny leak somewhere in the system as well. Oil is defenitely not rising and there is no fuel leak either. But I guess sometimes it is so small you would not have any fuel coming out, just air being sucked in over time maybe? I never checked for the seal of the injector pump, that might be good to check. Now my engine usually starts quite fine...but I notice that there is always a tiny air coughing at the beginning. Or at least that's what I think I hear ;). Guess I better check it. Thanks again for the hint. Ahoy, Nike & Karl
@queenofyeay
@queenofyeay 8 жыл бұрын
WhiteSpotPirates Before messing with the injector pump I would have you check every hose clamp or fitting/banjo bolt in the system and make sure everything is tight. The leak is minimal at this point, so it could be anywhere. I've heard tell of pin holes in the diaphram of a manual primer pump causing a similar problem. Smooth sailing!

Hi Michel, the Gecko did not really have any name :(. I once did a FB post about people suggesting names but in the end he remained nameless, except calling him stuff like "hey little one" and so on ;). Ahoy, Nike & Karl P.S. There is a playlist as well for both seasons..just for you to stay safe and not confusing urself too much ;) P.P.S. Karl never does anything intentionally. Well, actually that is not true. He does stuff to make me aware of what need fixing so I don't end up in bigger trouble...So I am very grateful for that! And he does give back masses...he is my home and protects me from wind and weather and he safely brings me from A to B. And he is very patient and forgiving with me, too :)

Ha ha ha, just reading Timothy Martins' comments (From about a year ago in the comments feed) and I agree - yes, the relationship is almost like most womens' relationships with their men. The women invest the time and effort in 'Fixing their mans' problems and dealing with their mans' 'Issues' (Or so I'm reliably told!) ;-) and hope that their man takes care of them in return! I'm sure that Karl is a gentleman cut from the same cloth as myself and would never intentionally let you down! :-) I wish all relationships could be so symbiotic! (A two-way street!) :-)
