I just have a lot of video to edit right now but normally I can't put videos out that fast it's impossible because I'm not making videos while I'm not working and when I'm working it's hard to put out full length videos until home

Yes, you are right it did seem like that, but I am not one to count or even think about things like that at all. I do this just because I enjoy it.😎🚢⚓️🌊

Jeff, quick question. Are the beds on the ships all twin size? Thanks for your content!
@JeffOnboard2 ай бұрын
Yes they are generally twin size beds and I always bring my own sheets that I like

Enjoyable views and commentary as usual. Your work seems to be mainly metal fabrication and welding. Is that your job position, welder? Thanks.
@JeffOnboard2 ай бұрын
No we perform all different types of maintenance on the ship there is no one specialty job we do a various assortment of jobs and sometimes yes it includes welding

I see you use a lot stick welding, E6011 or E7018 ? and I can see the need for that outdoors because of wind but do you use solid wire or flux-core wire (with or without gas) down in the shop space? I am a retired Sheet Metal LU104 welder with 40 years of this work under my belt so I have to ask :)
@JeffOnboard2 ай бұрын
Yes those are the two rods I generally use if it's something super simple I might just use the 7018 but something that needs to be a little stronger I use both and some ships have mig welders with an argon shielding gas. The Last Ship I was on had a really nice unit. I believe it is a mix of argon and a little CO2 as well but I'm sure you would know

Welding on ships is so different sometimes because the ship is rolling around

Who assigns your work schedule and do you always work solo or do you have assistants?
@JeffOnboard2 ай бұрын
It is normally the first Engineers job to assign tasks, but normally we know what we need to do anyway, and I prefer to work alone.

I wanted to ask, but I'm sure it's a sensitive topic. Is piracy still a concern? I understood if you can't answer.
@JeffOnboard2 ай бұрын
I am not an expert on the global topic but it is still somewhat of a concern and something that is prevented by having security teams on board but I think in some areas it is a little better than it was a few years back. However I have read just recently that there have been many attacks by Somali pirates even up to this year... I'm not sure how many times they were actually able to board the ships but I don't think a whole lot
