Hello all new viewers of our channel. I apologize for the audio quality of these fist few videos. Our audio mixing was a bit barbaric for the first few episodes so if you like the vibe of these videos but the sound is driving you nuts, please follow this link kzbin.info/www/bejne/ranFh5uMl6-Kh9E and skip to EP.7. You will pick us up right as we depart the US south and the audio is much better and continues to get better the more we edited. Cheers, Jon

Well done, I know this is several years old but still very interesting to people like me. I've been following your adventures for quite sometime, enjoying every episode. I love Prism, if I ever decide to purchase a sailboat, I would look for one just like yours. Good luck and calm seas.

Promising start. Instead of watching episode #7 on my search feed....like I did at #89 on Delos...I figured I'd start from the beginning. Bonus was you started out where I've sailed--the PNW. And the boat being out of Olympia just made me smile since that's where I've sailed out of most. Your discovery of...ummmm...let's call it "cooler" water, jellies, Shilshole, Ludlow, San Juans, etc. make me laugh.

You surely got my sub! Grew up in San Diego sailing Hobies and racers as well. My dad ran 2 commercial fishing vessels and I basically spent more time on his boats than I did in public school. Suddenly we upped and moved to Las Vegas.. Absolute disaster to a young sailor. I did get to sail on Lake Meade some on a friends small keel boat but it wasn't the ocean. We spent a lot of summers in Tahoe and it was fun to explore alone on a 14 ft. But it still wasn't the same. Around 19 we lived in Newport Oregon for a year and I did a little sailing there but nothing remarkable. Spent most of the time on a fishing boat. I'm now 40 living in northern Arizona and after buying 10 acres of gorgeous property with a money dump fixer upper home I'm rethinking our decision. After following the S/V Delos and the S/V La Vagabond around the world I'm even more serious about getting out of here and getting us aboard our own boat! My wife makes a good living from home and can work anywhere! I'm a medical professional but should of been an engineer or machinist. In other words there's nothing to stop us from sailing the seas. My wife works way to hard for us to be stuck here landlocked seeing the same ole shit day after day! Your story so far is just as inspiring as the others. We are grateful for you making it and sharing it! Maybe we will see you some day in the tropics or South Pacific! Went to sailing camp every summer and At 14 my parents moved us from the beach

+BrokenRRT Right on, the cruising life isn't for everyone. Sound like you have a fair amount of experience thought. Sadly we have met a fair amount of boat that call it quits due to cruising not living up to expectations. I tell people " Frugal Cruising is harder than any full time job back in the states. You will get less sleep and you will be more tired thane have ever felt. But it is by far the more rewarding thing I know of I can do with my time." Cheers!

Jon: Boomer told me about your adventures aboard the good ship SV Prism and said I should check it out. This is way cool man. The scenery and locations are just beautiful. It's nice to finally see your girl friend after hearing you speak of her often when we were together for the filming of the Motion and My Family Recipe Rocks episodes. I see you haven't lost your touch with the video camera; I feel like I'm right there on board with you guys. I got a kick seeing you in the PFD Battalion Chief t-shirt. I should send you a Deputy Chief one as I was promoted about 8 months after your guys filmed at the Philly Fire Academy. This would make a great show for the Live Well network or an updated Jewel Of The Nile Movie! Take care guys and best wishes, Mike Roeshman

+David Duncan We do too. Haven't been on a boat since owning Prism that we have said, "man I wish I could own that boat". Sure some a bigger and the space would be nice but prism is the perfect compromise in our opinion of space and ease of boat handling for a couple +1 at times.

+sfondry We live by Lin and Larry Pardey's mantra as much as possible "Go small, go simple, go now" Although we have a slightly larger boat 33 vs 29.5 and we use an engine. But it is defiantly possible to cruiser on $500/mo in Mexico if you are hands on and like fish! Thanks for watching

I used to work for a sailboat charter/sailing school (Windworks) in 1990 at shilshole marina, and ironically the owner of that business was a major a$$#@@!e, amd he couldn't retain any of his staff. That's the first time I ever heard of anyone processing the marina's name quite like that. For the sake of info. Shilshole is in Ballard which is basically north of Seattle itself. It's still a close part of the Seattle urban complex itself. If you ever go back to that town Alaskan way is right o. the waterfront. although it very touristy I think you could still get at least a couple fun days out of that area as well as Seattle center (where the space needle is). Fair winds.

Really, really nice. I've watched a couple of your other vids before this, and this is a great intro. I subscribed after watching your most recent vid, and that led me here. I've a few more to watch, and I look forward to following your progress. One day I hope to do the same, but my wife doesn't like sailing so I sail solo, and though my boat is (allegedly) capable of ocean crossing, I want something a bit bigger than 29ft (8ft beam and no standing headroom). So I'll travel vicariously through your channel (and a few others) until I can go myself. Keep it up, I'm depending on you!
@SailingVesselPrism
@SailingVesselPrism 8 жыл бұрын
What kind of 29 do you have? We have met a few single handers on nor'sea 27, PSC 27 Orion's, PSC flickas. I think the consensus is the smaller the boat the smaller the problems. But you must stay comfortable as well. I have single handed Prism a few times, she is as big as I would go by myself, but that's just me. We will keep the episodes coming! Cheers, Jon
@blueskyredkite
@blueskyredkite 8 жыл бұрын
+Sailing Vessel Prism (SV PRISM) My 29' is a Trintella 1a. The problem I have is that I'm a 6 footer, and the cabin doesn't have room for me to stand. I think some of the Trintellas that made it to the US (or maybe were built there, I don't know) have a wooden cabin top, with a bit more room. Many here in the UK have a FG deck and cabin and it's not as tall :( When the weather's bad and you're stuck on the boat at anchor somewhere, sometimes you just *have* to stand up, so that'll be my priority number one for my next boat. That and somewhere to put a rigid tender, you can't row inflatables and an outboard is just too tempting for thieves sometimes. I'm still working my way through your vids, nearly caught up. I'm really enjoying them.
@SailingVesselPrism
@SailingVesselPrism 8 жыл бұрын
I'm a tall guy as well (6'4'') Luckily the HC33 had 6'3'' headroom and with my bad posture I fit perfectly. All the berths are 6'5'' and that is what sold us.
