Found your channel a few months ago and am going back to the origin of your quest. Man, you have come a long way. I respect people who use their own labor. Most of us would have to do this because we don't have unlimited budgets. An everyman's sailor. Great job!

Another great 'reality' vid showing the joys of DIY boat repair & maint. Good job. Saw you double clamping the hose connections below the water line, which is correct, but couldn't see from the vid how each pair of clamps were installed. For max security they should be 180 degrees opposed. Also, if the budget allows, AWB clamps are more durable than most. Fair Winds.

Well done. Wear a weight belt about 6-8 lbs will make that diving a lot easier. The wetsuit is very buoyant.

I didn't realize your videos were filmed a couple months ago. The next time you get bored, pull your throttle cable etc. apart and slather them with never seize. They'll last forever problem free. Introduce your camera woman she seems like a pretty cool person and very helpful. Great videos.

I just told her she has to do the intro to the next video and she suggested putting up a still photo with speaking behind it.... hopefully she will stop being so stubborn and let me introduce her next video.

Absolutely, she's an entertaining part of the videos. She brings you back when you get lost in your work.

Was all of that growth since one of your previous videos of cleaning the bottom? I'm curious why you didn't pull the boat out of the water to do all of this work, seems like it would be easier and less costly than renting a slip?
@SailorJames7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was amazed at how quickly the growth happened, The main reason I didn't pull her out was because the closest boat yard that will let you put her on the hard AND work on her is in Ventura which is 80+ miles north, and without a motor there is not way to get her up there. And my slip fees are only $270 a month so considering the boat yard would be been like $150 or more It wasn't that much in savings, and besides that fact was a good motivator to get everything done ASAP. I have friends who have had boats for years who never get everything fixed and never end up sailing. I will be pulling her out in the next two months do get the bottom done and I will replace a number of the thru-hulls and seacocks at that time.

Should have marked the shaft position with a piece of tape before you pulled the old engine. Evidently that was not a direct replacement engine package. That is something else I learned after the same thing happened with me the first time. I really hope you dialed that shaft in with collar insert and a feeler gauge or dial indicator or something. If not you should have. As mentioned earlier too. The injectors, HP fuel pump and starter form the old engine should be kept aboard for spares is you are going anywhere. The starter might be junk and will need to be checked. OBTW you should never touch the injector's atomzing nozzle with your hands unless they have diesel fuel on them. Skin oils will undermine them and under heat of ignition they can corrode closed.

I hope you have a few nut drivers by now. Working hose clamps with a screw driver is the worst. Thank you
@ddbrink663 Жыл бұрын
you can use a jet sweat tool to replace that ball valve..plumbers use the to solder when you cant get the water shut off
