Hi, really enjoy watching your videos while we are longing + hoping to get back to our boat in Marmaris, hopefully this year. The bit where you mention the depth of 1600m, if you look a bit further south towards Rhodes the depths go down to an amazing 4000m! We stopped off there once just to experience swimming in those depths. Incredible.
@SailingABSea
@SailingABSea 3 жыл бұрын
(Baz) It's crazy to think that there's 4km of water under your boat. I love scuba diving but something in the back of my brain would make me think twice about swimming on the surface in 4km of water. 😜

Just watch out for submarines 😁 You said before you are heading up the coast towards Çeşme, if you can go a bit further to Bademli. Laying in the thermal pools on the shore edge is a great experience
@SailingABSea
@SailingABSea 3 жыл бұрын
Çeşme was the plan and Bademli would be doable, however there are now restrictions on crossing Turkish province borders during Ramadan, so we'll have to wait and see what happens. 👍
@AannshaJones

@@Orhaniye38 now that sounds like something I'd love to experience. But as Baz said, we'll have to wait for the border restrictions to be lifted first.

Tell me how they managed to get the bowlines on as did not see them being picked up from the pontoon. Also can you tell me about the fuel cans you have on deck? Thank you
@SailingABSea
@SailingABSea 3 жыл бұрын
The marineros go ahead of us and pick up the slime line and then wait in the middle of the fairway. Once our bow is positioned in the berth one marinero in the dinghy attaches the slime line to the bow cleat while the other takes the stern lines. Strapped to the side decks we have 2 x 20 litres of fresh water, just in case something happens to the 600 litres we carry. Plus we have 2 x 20 litres of diesel which would give us 8 hours of motoring, enough time to get us to a harbour or an anchorage should we empty the main fuel tank.
@leonjennings6615

@@SailingABSea thought it was something like that. As for distance between pontoons take a look at the aci Marina in Dubrovnik!111 bows are almost touching . Lefkas too!

I can understand you. I was just surprised to see you leave the helm to attend the lines when the boat was still moving backwards. Anyway , the result was good. My marina in Berlin is proportionally looking as narrow and each maneuver in or out is a challenge so I can really understand your feelings. Canan and I were hoping to go to Kas in 2 weeks but unfortunately the authorities are going for no travel policy … It really is sad 🥲

@@SailingABSea Thanks for that. Good to know. Is it the case that in some Med moorings you have to drop your bow anchor as you back up?
@SailingABSea
@SailingABSea 3 жыл бұрын
Most Med mooring places require you to drop your anchor, slime lines are rare, however most Turkish marinas have slime lines, most Turkish harbours don't have slime lines.

Did they make you turn and back down that distance would it not have been easier to go in forward and then back into Bert just curious
@SailingABSea
@SailingABSea 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, we don't have any prop walk with our Gori folding prop so A B Sea goes backwards easily. We don't have any steerage until we are making some way backwards through the water. So the combination of needing way for steerage, no prop walk and a bow thruster just makes it easier for us. 👍
