It's so cute! :D I was pretty impressed when we anchored the Victory 21 with the mantus

I have a Mantus M1 which has never dragged and I also have a Danforth with sharpened to a point flukes which has also never dragged.

Pretty impressive. Like you can take it apart and it’s stainless. How long does it take to put it together?

less than 20 seconds

I'd like to see a test on how well it un-snags. It's great to have an anchor set quick and hold. But you are going to get it hung up, and probably the first time you use it.

Used this for 3 years now, haven’t got it hung up. We are planning on doing another fun video, maybe under the water

I would have thought that the pressure of the water depth on the sand would improve holding. On the beach when the anchor digs in, the loose sand above it isn’t compacted by water. Any ideas?
@sailingavocet Жыл бұрын
water will have a slight affect, but this shows how the anchors will bite
@3vdad Жыл бұрын
The sand is actually lighter underwater due to the fact that it has buoyancy -not much but some. And, as far as water pressure, at the surface of the seafloor, the pressure is on each grain of sand not the sea floor.
@francismontocchio9910 Жыл бұрын
@@3vdad thanks for this - very good point. I guess the sand sinks to the sea floor only because of gravity and, as you rightly say, is not compacted by the water pressure. Thanks again!

How do you get it out?

Carefully 😝

With that Mantis anchor at least you know your dinghy is not going to blow away in a hurricane. 😅 Not sure how practical I would find it to take apart your anchor to stowe it every time. It's quite a bit bigger then a collapse able Dantford, I would say that's a disadvantage of a Mantis anchor.
@sailingavocet Жыл бұрын
Indeed! We seldom use it, but when we do its very easy to take apart and stowe.

There is a difference between dry and underwater sand. Test it in the water realistic. But mantus is a good anchor. Fair winds
