I live in SE Florida and Snook is such an amazing fish and is coveted because its seasonal fishing for them...yum!!!

Being from Cape Town I can assure you it was a Snoek fish....the BEST fish in the world especially on a BBQ grilled and basting with a garlic butter sauce. They do have very large bones and in Cape Town we ate a ton of it during the season. Wonderful firm flesh...never had sashimi, but would imagine it is similar to our Aussie Yellowtail Kingfish.

Guys, that is not a Snook, not even close. Barracuda !! If a Cuda is not feeding off reef fish, you should be fine.😮

Snoek are a type of mackerel sometimes called the queen mackerel. The lines run at right angles to that of couta. She looked like a barracuda, which can make for a trippy experience if consumed when bigger:)
