Scary good episode..... I saw in those areas parasites are very heavy another friend whose family got quite a few parasites their recommended to only eat fruits that are peeled versus fruit that could have been washed with ecoli or parasitic water. Good luck! I love animals and I would have done that for the dog as well. Keep an eye on the ringworm I had it once and needs a special cream.

I'm a 70 year old diver who grew up on Jacques Couteau specials and I love watching your family experience your chosen lifestyle. When I was growing up nobody talked about mental health, we just "sucked it up." I'm so relieved to see younger people more willing to share struggles and advocate for seeking help. My heart breaks for you and the friend you lost. I hope that in sharing that part of this video somebody else realizes they can reach out. I'm looking forward to watching your family settle in to your new home. Best wishes.

I can’t get enough of episodes like this. I enjoy the longer shots and the more time spent on each item, also the ups and and downs of real life. Who wants to watch perfect Instagramable stuff all the time-not me! More like this please. I know they must take longer to film and edit. But they somehow have more weight and staying power I think?

Seeing Riley, an eloquent man, at a loss for words and learning about his friend's story is truly hard to grasp. I think your text at the end has put it into the right words. This video captures the beautiful spirit of living your lives to the fullest, which I hope also encourages everyone to do so. Great spirit, some wisdom, you guys bring it all! Sending some hearty greetings your way!

Facing how this unique episode ended, I want to divide this comment in 2 parts. First I really need to commend you guys for this brave step back to the basics… every one looking to move on to bigger boats and you guys embraced the experience of going back to the roots!!! It’s wonderful seeing you proving that what really matters is the connection with Mother Nature and not the fancy perks of the latest sailing vessels. Keep these values and you will pass them on to your kids, helping them to become great people! Second, certainly is my share of condolences for the loss of this friend. I do know exactly how does this feels... it’s like our hearts shrank in pain, although I believe in a simple principal that can be said this way: “We belong to God, from Him we came and to Him we shall return”. If I can suggest; live the pain, feel the sorrow and always praise the good memories you shared with him.

Having a significant loss, the best way to remember them is to talk about them with friends, family, and counselors if you chose to, write journals, and have pictures of them. The funeral home made a neckless from my daughter's fingerprint, and every time my grandchildren see her fingerprint, they say hello to her. Get a tattoo, all kinds of ways to celebrate them with love. Truly sorry to hear about your friend. The memories you're creating are helping a lot of people, as well as giving something for the boys to look back on as they get older.

Seeing what looked like a mosquito larva in the drinking water gave me an idea for a suggestion: you all might consider adding a microscope to your gear. The benefits would be two-fold; education/entertainment for the boys and it would allow you to get a good look at water to see if there are pathogens or other health related stuff, considering you might be days away from laboratories on your travels. Mostly I think you'd find it interesting though. Be well!

Hey guys. I haven’t commented in a while. Work has been crazy, when I go to my boat I’m just fixing it. Had a couple weekends away that were good, I just loved the long film, the boys are just great and you both look really well and doing a marvellous job with the boys that I think is a hundred times more hard a job than having a family on land. Just wanted to say,” Riley the ending of the film touched me” I lost my eldest brother who had mental issues as long as I can remember. He died of eschemic heart disease. He was a troubled man, i my self suffered horrible mental ills in my thirties which in a positive way have served to change my life for the better but also served to hurt others at the time of my changing into the confident man I am today. I can say Riley I know how you are feeling and it’s very hard. When I think of my brother Troy, I only think of times when I saw him happy and when things seemed ok. For you poor friend leaving this world in that way is such a waste and knowing that what ever it was that was hurting him it could of been turned around. Mental I’ll health is as I feel a temporary paralysis and can be eased with love and talking and of course Proffessional help as I received. In my case CBT. The best learning experience of my whole life to date. My thoughts go out to you Riley, ,Helena and the boys. Keep up the great work all of you, your all ambassadors in the new world. 💙💚💛🧡❤️

Riley and Elayna, you two are raising your family in such a beautifully unconventional way. I grew up around three parents who worked too much while their children were growing up. Still hoping to do something similar to what you guys are doing. (My wife and I purchased a Cape George 36 last month, so that is a step in the right direction). I know this existance has got to be so full of anxiety and challenges and constant upheaval. But one thing is for sure - your kids will grow up knowing who their parents are, and remembering what it is like to live wild. Thank you so much for sharing this film with us. So sorry that your friend ended his life and he felt that was his only option. Truely heartbreaking. Thank you for taking us a long on your journeys and for being so open about what you are able to share. Ive been binge watching your old videos as an escape and its such a joy seeing how much Lenny and Darwin have grown. Ps. Darwin should get the classic fringe cut when he needs a trim!

I know it's a ton of work to put out an hour long video, and I very much appreciate it. Riley, I'm so sorry for your loss. Elana, you did the responsible thing with the dog and, more importantly, your family.

It's amazing how you guys adapt to ANY vessel you sail, and do it with adolescents! Simple solution to ring worms is freeze spray, not as cold as liquid nitrogen, but it will cure it, read the instructions, about $30USD. Your photography just gets better and better!

I highly recommend tea tree oil if you end up with ringworm. Its a natural antifungal and works great in a body wash. Definitely get yourself an anti-fungal creme or an oral medication if its bad enough, but the tea tree oil should cover any spots you miss and works as a good preventative

I'm sorry for your loss, guys. And I'm sorry that your friend felt this was the only way out. There are no two ways about this. This is tragic and I'm sorry you, and everyone who loved him had to endure this kind of pain.

When I lived on a boat, we all had festering cuts, bruises, sun spots, and the occasional large papule resembling a volcano with an oozing caldera. But, we had the time of our lives. I was never happier before or since. So, when shit happens, you know you're living. As long as medical care isn't too far off, the minor discomforts are mostly ignored for all the magical experiences as a trade off. So, cheers to you guys!

The turtle scene was special guys…the choice to film himself diving down and up rather than the subject so he could highlight the serenely clear surface and the music swelling on ascent communicated the heavenly feeling of floating effortlessly to a point in space you can barely discern called the surface that looks like infinite sky…beautiful emotional communication in that scene, let alone the beautiful subject. Also thank you for sharing your loss. Your ruthless determination to not let “what sells” crowd out or muddy the window into your actual lives. Keeping that the identity of the channel, says much about you, your bias toward the meaningful, and does not go unappreciated. Sending fondness your way - man on the internet.

I could never EVER hand my pup off just because it's sick. I would nurse it, make sure my kids understand no touching until it's better. That was a very sad part of this video.

Thank you! YES! Ringworm is not a worm, bit a fungal infection. Easy to treat. I feel bad that they made it out to be as if the puppy was "dangerous". Please try to educate, rather than misinform and scare people.
