Here's an unsolicited idea for Darwin. One of the major contributing factors at that age is that their brain knows what it wants (sometimes) but their language hasn't caught up. Using pictures can provide them with an opportunity to tell you what they want. Pick ones that are specific to Darwin like a favorite book or food. Take photos and just upload them to a doc (use about 6 photos to start) that you can show him when he's winding up. Hope it helps. You're both really intuitive parents. You're doing a great job. You got this!!

I have no idea if it’s first or second horns. Both my kids had tantrums. Essentially overwhelmed by their emotions. With my oldest, I could wait until a crowd gathered then point out that he had an audience. Like a lamb, Dave would stand up and walk away to deal with it in private. Ed, 3 years younger, would throw himself down at an intersection in downtown Montreal (middle of intersection during rush hour). I’d have to pick him up and place him on the sidewalk when he got there. The audience never bothered him. He’s now an actor.

Oh Elaina. My kids now are 18 and 16. But on their 2's, I learned an amazing tecnique that all parents should know. First of all, we need to be patient and as soon they start yelling and kicking, we have to stop, seat down with them in our arms and let them know that we are doing this to help them to calm down. So: it's kind of a time out in your arms, not moving. It's hard for the first days. Than the magic happens. They understand that if they start the kicking and yelling, they'll be in your arms. It's really a big challenge for us parents, but it works. We help them to learn how to control their emotions and to realize that yelling and going crazy doesn't resolve their problems or need. A nurse that was well know as "The baby whisperer", Tracy Hogg. Unfortunetely she past away years ago, but her book is amazing. You can get it on Amazon. The Baby whisperer. There's a whole section for toddlers. And I believe you can still find her videos here on KZbin.

Absolutely hands down my favourite video from you guys! I've been a subscriber for a couple of years and enjoyed all of your videos. To find out you were in the UK and then to discover the boat you were sailing was based in Millbrook was exciting. Then to go on see shots of so many familiar places, in particular the shots from Cawsand brought back so many memories. For probably getting on for a decade I went on holiday to this area as a kid with my family (sometimes twice a year) and stayed at Fort Picklecombe every time. You can see Fort Picklecombe in the background of several of your shots from Cawsand. It brought back so many happy memories for me as a kid and to see you guys enjoy the place as much was just perfection. My advice, cancel your Rapido order and get yourselves a Dazcat! 😁 P.S. Give the cool UK waters a go, it's so refreshing once you get in you can't fail to enjoy it! Some of us swim in it all year round and at the minute the water temperature is positively tropical to us.

What a gorgeous video in a beautiful part of the world. These folks are good to and for each other. Elayne, poor Darwin is testing who he is and what you tolerate. He's weaned finally cause you said so. He's trying to keep up with his brother and can't quite do it. Both of you were at wits end for a bit with Len, I remember that time. So grateful to be a long time subscriber... Don't comment as often as I should... Heck I've watched Two aussie's a couple... become a family of four. Been along for this journey. I thank you Riley and Alana.... Hope I didn't misspell Alana. Your the first sailing channel I looked at after my Father passed away, and no more sailing for me. Our family sailed together, more often no one wanted to sail more then me. I joined the Marine Corp after high school, and sailing almost stopped entirely. I came home on leave just to be with my father on our family catilina 15 meters or so can't remember the exact length of her. Mono hull...Anyways , I'm thankful for you all... Riley, Lenny, Darwin and Alana.. Sorry, just thinking about my math... The Catalina I Think was 12.8 meters/42 ft. Peace

Hey guys, great episode! Daz has a reputation for marching to the sound of his own drum, and so far everyone that has reported on these cats loves them. I would like to see a cruise of a week or so in different conditions (it changes quickly there) to get an idea of her over-all performance. Daz Cat had a video up on their site showing the boat in a serious sea state going to weather and she seemed to leap off of crests and dive into troughs - which was a little scary. It also looks as if they have more rocker in the hulls than other cats, but the T-foils (on the rudders) apparently counter act this tendency. It would be nice to see how that all works out. On the other hand, you guys obviously had a blast and it was a lot of fun just to see you guys there in Cornwall!
@tomriley5790
@tomriley5790 Жыл бұрын
Not really, Dazcats have wave penetrating bows and narrow hulls so they're alot less rocky than a Lagoon or similar, there's lots of stuff on their youtube channel of them sailing in different conditions (usually in races) or Sailing Uma's sail down the channel was in reasonably lumpy conditions.
@rickemmet1104
@rickemmet1104 Жыл бұрын
@@tomriley5790 Hey, let's not even mention Lagoons! I was figuring they were racing on that video clip I mentioned. The conditions off shore there are vastly different from what most people would experience when cruising, so it probably feels quite different in cruising conditions. Saw Dan & Kika sailing the 39 footer, and was impressed with it. No standing headroom in the cabin, but the open design allowing those in the hull to interact with those in the cabin is a good design decision.

Great episode. Precious moments with your children. Enjoyed the nostalgia of the ice cream on the beach . Thanks for sharing the beautiful fleeting moments of life.

We have often wished you could come to Cornwall! Come further down, if you can. It’s wild, challenging and beautiful. Loved this video 🎉

Nice boats, sweet lines. Nice town and people. I like the house, too.... Lenny and Darwin are great dancers, Lenny's choreography is very creative (not easy to mimic though, I fell on the kitchen's floor...). Very good editing ⛵

Having watched many videos of you sailing around the world, I was delighted to see an episode where you literally sail past my house! While the weather helps show off the area around Millbrook and Plymouth Sound, I could not be more pleased that you were treated well here and valued the scenery and sailing. Thank you.

Aw I’m so happy to see you in my home county! I love south Devon and Cornwall with all my heart. Around the time you were here I did a cycle trip up through Cornwall and lived pretty much entirely on Cornish pasties. Going sailing on the real ocean for the first time this weekend inspired by you guys. Lots of love, S x
