In all honesty, I quit watching Rubie Rose and Project Atticus as they were into boat builds and repairs for a long time. Somewhat staged as it appeared. It was too much like watching paint dry... Nice to see you are trying to stabilize the environment for the family. Stay away from the boat build toxins. Not good for health long term.

There's a big difference between constantly complaining, just out of habit/mindset, and having a purposeful talk about things that are challenging and difficult or stressful. Personally, I think the world would be better off with more of this kind of real honesty, especially in regard to content creators/influencers/etc. where, often, things seem much more idyllic than they really are. No need to apologize! It's a good reality check for everyone.

Guys don't worry about Lenny.. he is coming out of the toddler phase and going into kindergarten kid age. He has to play up, he is trying to "cut away from the apron strings" and be more independent and find out who he is. He also needs kids to play with.. now you have the house, hopefully he can go regularly to a kindergarten where they have routines and he has other kids to interact with and learn social behaviour with. We love your channel and will still enjoy following your journey.

Totally, it’s the child’s job to separate from us. If they don’t then something is wrong. They are hardwired to begin the process as soon as they are able. This process takes about 18 years give or take a few. How we navigate the process together is what makes a difference. A really good child psychologist once said: are the prisoners that try to escape the jail particularly bad prisoners or is it the nature of prisoners to try to escape? It is the nature of children to begin the separation process even when they are young. They’re not misbehaving when they’re learning to be autonomous and making some mistakes in the process.

I was wondering that if you guys were there working on the boat- do you get a discount for doing work or is it less so in that you will take longer than the professionals making your efforts though fun knowing you helped win this particular room? Your children will go through phases as you both had. the timing may be altered by the environment you are raising your kids as you were not raised on a boat. Is Lenny toilet trained? (its often a pre-requisite for starting school.) This topic of perfect life while on film, I recall this mentioned on am earlier video. It's not expected that you have a Perfect life. Though there are many folks who have witnessed your sailing, and are doing so themselves. I think a poll is needed to see how life changing your videos are. Enjoying your life journey- but i really look forwards to you sailing again. And maybe workout videos as Riley's arms are looking beefy, Elana your continuing to run I suspect in that your abdominals still look ripped/defined. Has your diets changed as you now have greater variety of foods available, and you are not limited by whats caught fishing.

Remind Lenny, whenever the four of you are together, it's home. That said, routine can make things easier with setting rules, rewards, and consequences... and eventually behavior. As exciting as it was to see the new boat, I think you guys made the right move. This episode was fantastic. And chicks dig scars. It's always a blessing when little ones walk away from injury that easily!

Showing viewers the reality of the challenges you’re facing reminds us that you’re normal people like us (or abnormal people like us. Lol). You’re also demonstrating the act of perseverance, which is a relevant choice we all need to make. Most importantly, you’ve given priority to the well being of your boys. Thank you for taking us on the journey. Life is worth the grind. 😊❤

In my old guy thoughts….”chill.” Lenny is fine. All boys at that age go through phases. Has nothing to do with your parenting or things you’re doing. My only advice, going through life, keep him busy, be involved, and love him. Those 3 things are key. We enjoy the videos and hope you keep going. Yes, it is all hard work. But nothing is earned or gained by being lazy or expecting it to be given to you (entitlement). Love you guys. You’re fun.

I've been on here before Lenny was even a twinkle in the eye and it's so refreshing to see the candid and open dialogue you have with not only yourselves, but with us, the audience. This is what makes La Vagabond such an intriguing and entertaining broadcast to those who either struggle to travel or have other responsibilities. You really do so much adventure, even more so that you have children now it seems. You take up the challenge to discover new places you haven't felt and see different cultures. Epic. You are ambassadors of the sea!

I appreciate your taking time to acknowledge us viewers. It means a lot. I want to say that you two have grown so much and have become very enjoyable yourselves. Between parenthood and opening your lives to others’ cultures, you are becoming wise and caring people. It makes me feel a bit sentimental saying this because there was a time several years ago when I stopped watching for awhile. It was pre-children, and you were younger and less aware of the value of “others”. Looking at you both now gives me joy. Thank you for sharing your honest love for what you’re doing out there, your love and enjoyment of life, your respect for people everywhere, and determination to be REAL-all the time. It could have gone differently. You chose the high road. Love your children, and the way you love them. I enjoy how unafraid you are to be yourselves in front if so many. Cheers to you from middle America.

You two are on the cutting edge of a whole new entertainment experience. You're creating it as you go, and it will be what you make it. And I appreciate that you keep it real. Traditional entertainment involves actors telling a story and advertisers selling it. Some entertainers get confused about their own lives and the life they chose to expose to the masses. But most of them still get to go home at the end of the day. KZbin is a whole different animal. You're telling your real-life story and we are paying for access to it. If you had told me 20 years ago that this would be a thing, I would have said, "you're mad". And yet here you are, making it real. I hope everyone watching realizes that you have a life and it is not any of our business what goes on when the camera is turned off. What you choose to share is up to you, and this involves a whole new way of defining boundaries, identity, and personal integrity. Please take good care of yourselves. Put the camera down and be who you are, be with your kids, and be in your life...throw us a bone once in a while, and then get on with your life. And thank you for the honor of letting us have a little glimpse into what it takes to be an adventurer. It's compelling and inspiring. But it's ok to close the curtains at the end of the day. Peace out.

Watching Lenny swim underwater was so affecting. He is amazing. Oh, also...just get through this bit. The videos continue to be compelling - you have to understand that we like the characters in this drama and are always on their side. Nomadic life has its issues - but so does being stuck in a school full of bullies, just for example. Lenny has you and his brother and when you go back to sea, he will have that and the big sky, not to be despised. Perhaps he needs peers to socialize with, but the lessons he learns from random mates will not necessarily be ones you would wish. Maybe he could pick up some Balinese.

I'm gonna chime in with my two cents. You're doing great. Remember this boat build is a temporary thing. this too shall pass. You'll be moved in before you know it and it will be home. In the meantime, I would have a good heart to heart with Lenny and reassure him verbally that no matter where we go or stay or travel to, that you will always be there to love him, protect him and keep him safe. It's easy to say "he knows that" but verbally confirming that is huge. Also, as others have said, he is exactly at the right age to start testing you and figuring out who he his, what this world is all about. He is loved (Darwin too, but his needs are different at this age), and we can see that in these videos. You're very busy and this too shall pass. Don't forget to take time for yourselves too. You cannot give when your cup is empty. I've learned over the years and I currently have a great relationship with my 3 kids( almost 24, 22, 20) and they tell me the things that scared them growing up. Things I could have done better, and also where I excelled. Youre doing a great job. Don't be hard on yourselves and there is nothing wrong with complaining! we need to verbalize shit sometimes to sort it in our brains.Keep just being you. Love you guys. sorry for writing a book. :P

This is so true. The feels are there, the words are what we all need. Reassurance that it's all good. I love watching the boys grow. My two- who looked so much like Lenny and Darwin- are grown now and have their own. My Darwin fell on aa lava same age, same cut, he still has the scar. Stay present. Your doing fine.

3:40, you have to understand things from Lenny's perspective, he has no continuity in his life, I am the son of a former soldier and all my life we travelled from country to country never really connecting with anything, Lenny also feed's off your emotions and if you guy's are not balanced he will feel it, I mean your going through quite the transition right now and Lenny picks up on everything including your worries and fears, so be careful of what you say around him as you may not realise it but he is constantly listening.

Yeah, it could be dietary related, like excessive glucose metabolism causing anxiety and tantrums when his blood sugar crashes. Try more protein and saturated fats, for example eggs & bacon for breakfast and hamburger for dinner. Never snack on simple carbs.

I always appreciate honesty on socials, it’s becoming quite rare these days. You guys seem to have really shifted gears to become more entrepreneurial, for your own reasons and no doubt as a response to opportunities that have come your way. I just wonder how this will impact the channel moving forward. You’ve admitted that you can’t really concentrate on the videos lately, so I’m curious as to if making videos is going to become more of a communications strategy moving forward to promote everything else you’re doing, or if the adventures that we all love to follow will continue on the new boat?

Oh other than the fact we might have to miss a few videos in Feb, nothing will change. We adventure FIRST make videos SECOND and tackle our side projects THIRD. Sailing and adventure is what makes us the most happy and it’s the life we want to have for our kids. Forever cruisers ✌️and forever documenting the voyage. We struggle every now and then to balance it all and this is really just a rough patch.. with the new boat build delays etc. I have a feeling once we launch the boat, everything will be back to normal 🤞 let’s see lol. 🥴🥴 - Elayna

@@SailingLaVagabonde Thanks for the reply and the honesty. We often go back into your old videos to re-live those early adventures. We look forward to the new ones. I really advocate for creators to rally together to push KZbin to stop treating YT content creation as part of the gig economy. I'd rather you guys go off the radar for a month or two and then come back with the content you really love to create that reflects your number one value: adventure, rather than feeling you have to keep putting videos out to keep the algorithm and audiences happy. We need a YT creators union or something. Maternity and paternity leave, annual leave, sick leave. And audiences need to be OK with creators taking a month or two off! Good luck and can't wait to see the adventures you embark on in the new vessel. xx
