This is the second ever cooking video on Sailing Magic Carpet! The first one was many years ago, and coincidentally, it pairs quite well with this one. If you're curious, you can watch it here and learn how to make really good, really fluffy bread without an oven!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYbTaoejmMhje7s

I've read every comment regarding how delicious your soup looked and agree with every one of them, but every time you show the interior of Magic Carpet, I'm always blown away by just how pretty the inside of your boat is. Thank you so much for bringing all of us along on your Scandinavian Summer.

Maya. Years ago on BBC Radio 2 in the UK there was a DJ called Terry Wogan who was born in Ireland, unfortunately he passed away in 2016. He had a suggestion sent to him from a listener that left over wine should be frozen in an ice cube tray so that you could drop a cube into a broth or stew to give it some more taste. It was a good idea but his remark was “What left over wine?”!

This is by far the best cooking video I have ever watched. Brilliantly filmed, and edited, the music, everything about it was award-winning. And the way you serve the soup, allowing for so much variation. And the prunes. I learned so many techniques from this one simple, yet wonderfully complex, video. It would be wonderful if this is just the first of many more like it!

We love box wine on the boat. So much easier to deal with. We will sometimes unbox it and put the pouches into a locker deep in the bilge where it will stay cooler and break down the boxes and store them flat for use when we pull out the pouch for use.
@duncanmarks1590 Жыл бұрын
Hi, a very good technical demonstration of "camera"; focus, use of depth of field, lighting, and scene transition. But also a particularly appealing presentation, or short clip, on a small part of someone's life. As other comments suggest possibly a good addition to the your KZbin chapters as an occasional treat for your "watchers" but I imagine the editing time on this post was quite significant. Thank you for the time and effort, bye Duncan

Boxed wine is the best thing to come along since bottled wine. You are so correct about the storage aspect, and on a boat this is just the ticket. Very few people can tell the difference.

Very instructional but I think you should have told us that cilantro is what some of us call coriander , not everyone’s cup of tea ! Had to look it up although I think I recognised it from the video.
@SailingMagicCarpet Жыл бұрын
@@markbennett9787 it’s called coriander in Europe, but it’s cilantro in North America :)
@susanw8471 Жыл бұрын
I believe that (in North America), cilantro refers to the leaves and stalks of the plant. The word “cilantro” is the Spanish name for coriander leaves. The dried seeds of the plant are called coriander. I'm pretty sure Magic Carpet has a worldwide audience and (really) shouldn't it be up to the individuals (if they're interested) to check things out, as Mark did. I don't believe anyone can be all things to everyone. I also hope everyone watching is here for the journey and enjoyment of seeing the world via the efforts of Magic Carpet, Aladino and Maya. The spirit of this channel is kindness and I hope everyone is on board with that.

Spectacular. The only (literally) difference between your soup and my soup is that I don’t like having parsnip in the final product. That’s super minor. I would easily compromise on that. Astounding to me how similarly we cook. Guess we doing it right. 😂

When Magic Carpet uploads a video during the beginning of the week: *A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one* Jokes aside, this episode was a wonderful surprise. Between this and the Crayfish Meat tutorial, I have a suspicion this channel is turning into a Nautical Cooking Channel, or at least a miniseries named “Magic Galley” or something similar. Either way keep making amazing content and keep sailing, -J

I am impressed! I know folks who drink their wine out of jam jars or plastic “glasses” because they worry about breaking a glass. Wine deserves a decent wine glass and Chateau Carton, as box wine is known in the posher suburbs in Australia, tastes better from a glass than bottle wine from a jam jar.

I'm vegetarian and would have used bouillon cubes and a little more oil. But as a master said, cooking is an art form, the noblest. Regarding boxed wine, I like it but it feels nicer out of the bottle, so I bought a couple of decanters at a flea market which lifts the mood. Merry Christmas!

I assumed boxed wine would be easier to travel with on a boat too. I also came across a Viking cookbook, and they used prunes in many of their stews.
