I think you should call your Hydro Vane “Hobson”. That was the name of the Butler in the movie comedy “Arthur”, starring Dudley Moore, Liza Minnelli and John Gielgud as Hobson. The butler was a real pro at his job and took excellent care of Arthur, while never complaining about being a butler.

The most relaxed passage video of all time. A year or so ago, it would’ve been … “OMG! There’s water in the bilge … we’re sinking, we’re gonna die! No wait, it’s fresh water, we’re going to run out of water! We’re gonna die!”. This time it’s “oh look, water in the bilge, tastes like fresh … hahaha, no worries.” And “I got 4 hours sleep in one go, with the motor running. Haha. Winds moving forward and the swell is on the beam. No worries. Haha”. Brilliant, keep on sailing. Fair winds. 😄

Good on ya for routine inspections underway. Might want to look into ABYC E11. Look at how Ta Shing wired the boat compared to after delivery add ons. I am almost done rewiring and changing out hoses on my 1985 V42CC and very glad I did. At least 4 wires were about to short out due to vibration and lousy install. Scary stuff. Keep an eye out for a spinnaker car. Down wind with a pole out and a code sail makes all the difference.
@SailingMillennialFalcon3 жыл бұрын
Ergh, I won't even want to address the wiring on our boat. It's all over the place with additions from 2 previous owners too (and probably 10's of their contractors!) So well done to you for doing that job!! Ahh, the joy of 40 year old boats eh!
@scubaseas13 жыл бұрын
@@SailingMillennialFalcon I greatly appreciate your videos. And your level of commitment! I often see "oh, that's how they did it" by watching your episodes. The issues you have are also on my boat. The places where my wiring chafed would easily have been solved if the wires were supported every 18". Some #8 screws and mounting eye cable ties can go a long way towards safety. Boat yoga maybe involved!

Add extra shut off valves. Back when I bought my first home I had the main shut off valve out at the water meter. If there was a leak anywhere in the house whether it be a faucet or around the toilet or whatever you had to shut off the water to the whole house personally I didn’t like that. Usually when you look underneath your sink in the cabinet you would see shut off valves at the wall then run lines up to the Fossett for the sink or down on the wall or at the floor by the wall under the toilet you would see the water supply with a shut off valve that goes up to the toilet, and these are all there so late so that you can isolate the problem. So as I was redoing the house I put shut off valves at the bathroom sink, at the toilet, extra shut off valve in for the tub and shower another set of shut off‘s for the kitchen sink. I also put an extra shut off valve leading up to the hot water tank. This way if I had a problem I can isolate the problem and still have the rest of my water system going it would work the same in your boat so I suggest extra shut off valves.
@SailingMillennialFalcon3 жыл бұрын
Thats actually a good idea! I was thinking of one near the tank but this would work like your first house did, a few shut off valves at the back and front of the boat might be better so if this happens again we can shut off a part of the water pump system and still use the rest. Thanks for the suggestion 🙂

Now, not putting you down at all, just saying , I've heard a ton of Australians watching KZbin Sailing channels for a while , and I need to ask you about your accent. Its seems to be different from most Australians I think ? Is it different ? Is it that you aren't from the eastern part where most of the you tubers come from ? Love the fact that your back on the boat.

there is a device which uses the refractive index, you just hold it up to the light and look into a lens, I can't remember the details (used one briefly many years ago on a geography field trip) bit it was easy to use and didn't require power or anything. With a battery and a multimeter you could measure the condctivity fairly easily.

I think everyone is different and no one of our vlogs will please everyone. Some people enjoy us exploring new places, others say that we could just film sailing for 20 mins and they'd watch that and then some people enjoy the laughs. We'd be all over the place if we tried to listen to everyone though... so we just gotta do our own thing and so long as we have fun while we're filming and editing it then hopefully other will enjoy it too... whatever it is! 🙂
