Going astern is the bane of the long keeled boat. You will find that in time you master it with burst of throttle and prop wash, remember all sailing vessels used to be like that with no thrusters.

Guys, a few of us have the same issue with prop walk - our Tayana goes to port in reverse. So, if ever in a marina and especially on the T head, always go starboard side to.

Different bottom types require different anchor typrs. Also, check to see if your anchor is heavy enough. There are plenty of sites which address this question. Google it. Love your vlogs.

Did you start a NIGHT SAIL at 15:43 until the END of the video? LOL Dragging you say? My FIRST encounter with dragging was just north of Lady Musgrave...along the coast at Cape Capricorn. Sailing friends (much more accomplished than I) anchored fairly close into the headland and a couple hundred yards away. I decided staying in DEEPER water that would suit me just fine. The following morning I awoke to see that "my sailing friends must have moved further away from me" after I retired for the evening. Huh...why would they have moved? Just at that moment...a second vessel (BEHEMOTH) came along side with an observation: "Hey, mate...we think you've been dragging". WELL...that certainly explains THAT! My friends didn't move...I DID!!!! Yikes. So...MORE CHAIN is generally more than LESS chain. If you have a chain counter USE it. Also...my second year on the Great Barrier Reef found me UPSIZING to about a 60# anchor for my 44' cat. Good sleeping from then on. The 45# anchor that came with the boat...was kept as a spare. Smooth sailing. MFalcon BTW...Bunnings is ONLY in Oz! Drats, right? The SHOW MUST GO ON? Try this one...truly amazing performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpOWm2mMgLSNec0&start_radio=1&list=RDXb3j6VKOZCk

I think that sailing while in reverse may be contributing to you prop shaft falling out. Check this, but the pressure of the water on the shaft may be unscrewing the nut from the shaft and therefor from the motor. I sympathize with wanting the quiet, but it may be better to let the shaft turn in neutral and put up with the noise until you can afford a feathering prop. Love you videos. Your music is too loud compared to the conversation making it necessary to ride to volume. A wind sock for your mic would also be helpful. Happy sailing!

Colin Mills, hey mate. I believe they bought the boat in the States because of the price. Even though in Australia, there are many 2nd boats to pick from. They are very expensive compared to the US & in the US the market is flooded with 2nd boats raking up storage fees.

Do you back down on your anchor? After I put mine out and let out enough rode, I put the boat in reverse and put 2000 RPMs on the engine. If the anchor holds I feel good about it.

I agree on the shark and the Ray,...but they do eat them, although shark doesn't taste nice, neither does a Ray, so they'll either make soup or fish stock out of them, keep pieces for chum or fry the bejezus out of chunck of the meat in batter and serve it as a very cheap side dish to drunk guy's. But i agree, don't fish Sharks or Rays, or Swordfish⬅although those do taste good, don't fish big Tuna either anymore, it's just not good environmental policy if you do, it's not sustainable.
