This is one of the cleanest , well maintained vessel I have ever seen. I respect and admire the owners for taking care of this boat. Wonder if this is still available

Hi Aaron, thanks for your feedback. Although she is not advertised, we are still open to talking to serious purchasers. The asking price is $275,000. We purchased Kekaimalu in 2004 from the 1st owners who did the fit out. We put her for sale last year but then we decided to rescind the sale contract with the broker and market her ourselves at a later date. Recently, on the way to Post Stephens for a slip and anti-foul we had a raw water blockage and decided to do a major overhaul of the entire sea water flow path. We've just completed that and we are now arranging anti-foul in Pittwater as we cannot get into Cove Marina until late August. Cove Marina is great place to do work but a fair way up river and depths drop to 1.3 high tide this time of year so too shallow. Cheers, Jim & Adriana

Beautifully maintained and well thought out boat. I love how secure the floor boards are, and how even the hanging lockers have lockers in the bottom of them! Even if you don’t store something there, having that access available would be extremely beneficial in the event of a hard to find leak or something, or during maintenance.

Thanks for your thoughts, we have great respect for the previous owners who did the fit out and deck layout/hardware. They invested over 15 years of their lives and were superb craftspersons. Most people have no concept of the skills, time and labour that are required to plan and fit out a vessel to this standard.

Thanks, she is a special boat. Cost to build was valued in 2004 by a well respected surveyor at over AUD$1m so with material and labour costs of today I shudder to think the cost of replacement.

How would you steer this yacht from below decks in the aft cabin using the emergency tiller arm!?
@SailingwithLucy Жыл бұрын
Yes it's not a perfect solution but just an emergency option. For close quarter manoeuvres you really need two persons on board - one directing from above and one steering. If desperate and single handed one could still steer into an anchorage using a an iPad as a repeater off the main chart plotter which would show heading, radar, charts, and AIS info, etc. but yes...not ideal! The tiller, fixed directly to the quadrant, can also be lashed to a position and the quadrant can also be locked to the centreline position (there is a locking mechanism to lock the quadrant to the hull in this position). So the tiller fixed directly to the quadrant is really just a last resort to hold a course or to manoeuvre the vessel into an anchorage etc. On the wind or on a reach Kekaimalu steers a straight line if the sails are set correctly, on these point of sail we have often thought the autopilot was on and when we try to adjust the heading find we had not activated it.

Not wishing to pry. I only observe that after setting up such a beautiful vessel for blue water, world, cruising including a major 2019 refit, and yet not venturing further north than Port Stephens, there must be a very compelling reason for selling the Lady. Wishing you both a future of fair winds ⛵. Take care of each other, Ron in Noosa 🤓

Hey Ron disappointing I know!!! The trouble is Jim’s mum came down with a brain tumour needed surgery and rehab. And we realised when our kids came in December that if they were going to visit us more often we would need an extra double cabin…so after much deliberation we decided if we were going to have to pause our plans then it might be the best time to sell her as she is in peak condition! Very sad decision but one we realised would be the best one. Having said that who knows what can happen! Thanks for asking!! We will see you in Noosa! Keep a beer cold for us! We’ll be doing some video tours of boats soon! Let’s see what turns up! Love A

As I prepare to view some more boats this weekend, I find myself back at this video....I don't do Facebook or other social networks, but would be interested in the price... please..
@SailingwithLucy2 жыл бұрын
Hi St Nick, she’s on the market at $AUD295k which we feel is a very good price for a boat of this quality. You could easily pay less for a boat and spend a huge amount more to achieve similar specs. When we purchased her in 2004 they surveyor estimated a custom build cost of >AUD$1m to build a vessel to this standard. So the value is in the eye of the beholder ~ depends upon your knowledge, experience, values, your idea of what you appreciate, etc.
@saintnick15522 жыл бұрын
@@SailingwithLucy first off I appreciate the speedy reply...At approximately US$200,000 I personally don't see price as too high, I believe I do understand the uniqueness of said yacht... however will need to find just as unique a buyer, I could be that guy, but I am far away. I am searching for perfect boat for me so will be in touch...have to ask if it's just the two of you, why do you want to change boats at this point...btw I believe only serious inquiries follow this far into the replies.. tks.
@SailingwithLucy2 жыл бұрын
@@saintnick1552 Jim’s mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour late last year necessitating long rehab. We wanted to hang around to support her through this process for a few months which meant we couldn’t travel. For some time now we’ve been feeling we needed a boat with two double cabins to accommodate friends and family - our kids are in London and when they visit they want to go sailing and often they visit together. There never seemed to be the right time to do a change over but when Jim’s mum became ill and we had to stay put it was, in a sense, the catalyst.
