I fully agree with @Glenbard4. While the cruising was interesting, there are lots of channels available. OTOH, there are not many really good DIY channels devoted to boating, especially combining wood, fiberglassing and finishing. Really looking forward to lots of glorious sanding in future videos.

Mads! Dan from Norway here! The tape could be the tape used to seam/seal vapor barrier when you are building houses in cold climates like Danmark and Norway. The shop called it "non-aging" tape Mine is from Scotch but I am sure more brands like 3M makes them as well. I have a roll in my leftovers that are now 15 years old. It is as soft and sticky as the day I used it those years ago. Super stuff. Expensive but very good!

This is the 3M version of the tape you asked about. “3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tape 8663”. We use it on helicopter blades to cover the area where the stainless steel erosion strips ends to keep any rain water when flying or washing water while on the ground from getting under the stainless steel. Without that tape sand and dirt particles really blast away the adhesives and leaves voids for the water to penetrate those areas. I’ve heard it called “Blade Tape”, “NASCAR Tape”, and “100mile an hour tape.” It comes in two thicknesses also. The thinner tape we use on the tail rotor blades and it will last about 100 hours, the thicker we use on the main rotor blades and it will last about 300 to 500 hours depending on if we are working out of dirt landing zones or using airports.

Pretty sure they use this stuff on F1 cars to seal gaps between the various body panels. They refer to it as "helicopter tape". Crazy that it stands up to rotor blade speeds

😊For sealing holes, a trick I picked up from a magazine that has worked for me. Take a VERY slightly damp sponge cut it slightly oversize of the hole, soak the sponge in polyurethane (Gorilla) glue and put it in the hole. Seals to a sandable watertight plug, also good as a cable gland.

As someone who grew up in SW FL, I highly recommend a heat reflective tarp to put on top of your tent. The tent you have seems to only stop the direct light from the sun. It still lets the heat through. A 10x10 tarp is less then $40. It’s a life saver.

For temporarily closing holes, butyl tape is great. It is a lot like chewing gum, but comes off more easily.

Yes I agree Butyl is the perfect product. Butyl tape or you can get Sika 710 comes in a tube which you can use in a caulking gun. Silicone products leave a residue that resists paint adhesion.

Consider Shrinkwrap tape for temp sealing of cracks and openings. Is durable and highly UV resistant. Also get a big window AC off marketplace and build a shroud over deck hatch. This will both cool and dehumidify the interior nicely. Perhaps once your paperwork is sorted, build a wood frame and shrinkwrap canopy. Stay cool~

For sealing your cracks and holes for now you could use "Eternabond" Tape, which is used for RV roofs. It comes in 2" and 4" widths that I know of. It's pretty long lasting, and very "sticky." It will last years exposed to the elements, and is good enough to patch your holes and cracks temporarily while you're working on the boat. It is a pain to get off, and does leave quite a bit of glue behind after you remove it, but you can use acetone, xylene, or even ronsonol lighter fluid works good too to get the tape residue off. You could also use"Dicor" self leveling caulk for roof sealing as well. Another RV product. Good luck with the project!

Hi Mads. Festo makes some pretty excellent floorgrinders where sandpaper/fiberdiscs can be attached with velcro. The dust collection system is very good and the speed of the machine can be adjusted. It is a little pricy, but it lasts forever. All best from København.

One of my old favorites for sealing is 3M 5200--been using for over 40yrs. For temporary(or permanent) 3M 4200-fast cure(about 2hrs plus) also one of my favorites. Note that these are a polyurethane product so you can use right befor launch--or Rain-----water enhances the cure. Most any 3M product is good if not a bit pricey-----Mikey, belfair, Wa

15:30 that's plastic repair tape. It's for greenhouse plastic sheets. They never put brand names on that stuff and it's always UV resistant. I have the green stuff and it's super resilient.
