Hi Guys! You have exactly the same LFP as here on Gabrielle; same cells, same BMS and lots of Victron products including Cerbo GX; only real difference is we had a legacy of 12V kit including 12V Multiplus so decided to stick with 12V so we have a 4s2p battery config rather than 8s1p. Been working brilliantly for over a year. Standard Volvo D2 Hitachi alternator charges 12V LFP with no overheating or charge issues; obviously different for you 24V set-up. For us Brit cruisers, Schengen rules have become a challenge. Hope our UK rules allow you guys in without too much difficulty! Cheers and thanks for another great video.

Well, I'm sure Ava certainly adds a lot to your life but she is also a nice addition to the channel. I'm no boat electrician or electrical designer but electric one of my skills. Some thoughts from a fellow sailor, I had the exact same pressure accumulator and it rosted from the inside fast. Ruined the water system with brown gunk. Get a stainless one from Marco fluid tech. Or you get a digital variable rpm pump from Marco fluid tech as well and don't need an accumulator at all:) Still love your videos guys!!

Very interesting, I'd love to see a wiring diagram on how your setting up all the systems on your boat. It seems to be be quite complicated.
@ronpippin48933 жыл бұрын
The power system is really cool. I am assuming you have a separate 12V starter battery? The US Navy has an exercise called a Fast Cruise done after major overhauls. It is essentially dropping your dock power and water services and testing all your systems for a day like you were at sea. (They also put the crew in at sea watch rotation so everyone knows where the should be.) You may want to consider doing this soon so you can figure out what is working or needs some extra bit while you can order stuff in advance of any shake down cruise or you departure from Denmark.

I have been engaged in the rehab of a 1969 Pearson Wander for the last two years. Given the overall condition of my boat it has not been as extensive as what you have done - but enough so to help me understand what it takes to accomplish all that you have done thus far. The electronics alone are extremely impressive but I do worry some that systems are way to complex to operate without fail long term. Hoping for the best but will be looking forward to many videos ahead that address all your trouble shooting ; -)

Don't forget to build a band with a couple 10mil starboard or similar to slightly squeeze your battery pack. The large flat surfaces need some compression to prevent the battery from swelling due to massive charge or use load. CHEERS Steve h.

You guys are coming along nicely. Those water pipes looking really nice. I thing I will have a try with that this winter. Maybe you know, but if you don't, Volvo Penta recommends that the expansion tank of the engine is well above the highest point in the cooling system. There is a minimum number, just can't remember it. But if you haven't thought about it yet, have a look so the waterheater isn't to high. If so, solution is to mount the expansion tank higher. Sorry if this adds to the work list. 😊 Kr, Håkan

LOL, we have the same Victron remote... set to 13 amps the 'assist' feature is not 'assisting'. When power consumption gets higher than 13 amps. the quattro actually switches completly to battery use. Your display showed it and we have the same experience here on board. under 13 amps it draws on shore power.

That it a pretty cool setup. Have you thought about all in one bms+inverter+charger systems? In all of our travels aboard our Amel we have found the carbon filter to be acceptable in cleaning large particulate which is nice. However, there are places where the dock water was "less than ideal" and the marina was not a place I want to subject my water maker membrane. So we installed an Anova UVC Arrow 5 water purifier to keep our digestive tracts intact from those little nasty bugs that exist in far away places. May be worth a look as you already have the infrastructure in place.

All of that snap together water stuff and a lot of other stuff installed on this boat is great as long as you are near a huge city in the UK but when you get to a remote islands and third world countries good luck buying parts to do repairs thats why smart sailors just use standard water tubing and brass fittings and hose clamps you can do repairs anywhere (sometimes)

As a Schengen citizen very much enjoying the system since its installation (even with the recent major rebound due to differing corona measures country-to-country and the re-establishment of hard borders), I am sorry for Your hassle, Ms Ava. There are supposed to be ways around that hassle which would be best talked through with a specialized attorney: Kika from "Sailing Uma" would be able to point You to one of those, as far as I remember. I am pretty much aware of the red tape part of all that, for I am helping with translation before authorities now and then to get long term spouse-visa written - the people I supported so far all were married though, so I couldn't tell what applies to Your "fiancée-only" state in terms of laws/circumvents - there are supposed to exist ways to get that sorted though. Just in case You would like to have another summer or two in the very beautiful Schengen area, of course.

psst...adding the smaller of the pvc wire track around the perimeter of the panel including the bottom, and add a bottom to forward electrical. A thin sheet of lexan or polycarbonate preferred, acrylic next, with velcro or fasteners to the pvc covers will perform as an electrical cover in the closet. In nav electrical, it's getting out of hand. ;) . Fyi, the trick to using back board panels for complex electrical panels is...build it on a table without the box. Leave the bolt square on the corners of the back board which mate with the studs in a metal box empty on the outside 2-3 inches. Using pvc wire track, build a box on the back board inside the mounting square. With additional usually horizontal pvc finger conduit as needed, especially near din terminal strips, which need track on the top and bottom. Build the back board without it being in a box, then mount it in the box by the corners with studs welded to the back panel. Use 1/2 inch birch plywood or polypropylene 1/2 inch sheet as back board material.

Mistakes I learned from PEX systems.Whales quick disconnects. Date them with a sharpie! Mine started leaking in about 2 years. I made part of the yearly inspection of my boat! I also date the filter. Plus I found the worm clamps, vibrate loose fast than I thought they would. I used stainless steel PEX clamp rings. 0 leaks in 5 years. You're red pill thing. LOL! Date it! Then you know when to inspect the Pressure Regulator. Put it in your Bi-Yearly inspection to disconnect and shake if you hear the water on the top of the diaphragm that shows a small leak and will fail soon. And the last mistake I learned from. One way valves use themDeck- fill splash in the face was fun. and water maker. Thought my water maker was not working turns out I was actually back flushing the water maker all the time. That was a full week nightmare to find out. I also added a Hot Water Recirculating Pump to save water from waiting for hot water. Found I was saving about 10 gals a week.
