Sailor on the Rock, reel on a D Wilson Woods whistle

This is a new-to-me instrument, made by a guy who apparently also made fifes, but is no longer making whistles. It came with a two-pocket holster, complete with belt-loop. I was told the maker liked to attend Civil War re-enactments. It is the widest bore D in my collection. The body is very well made, while the fipple block is a bit rough finished on the mouth side. It has a gritty sound that I quite like, but it is challenging to find mike placement and gain setting that doesn't result in the top notes getting clippedl The Sailor on the Rock is one of my go-to single reels.
