These were quickly ditched as more people left Sainsbury's for Tesco as people complained about the shouting. Strange as well considering Prunella Scales was doing the Tesco ads.

Realistically, the difference in price is only going to be about 1p or 2p right? So if you went out of your way to visit Sainsbury's instead of another store you'd end up spending more anyway.

Thank you for posting this. After a quick search, I see this ad is from 1999, and was deemed unsuccessful at the time. Now we're heading into a recession, the supermarkets are concentrating on value once again in their ads, but in a less brash and more reassuring way.

what I mean is this shows a real lack of direction from the management, a competent company wouldnt even have had this commissioned! Regardless of Cleeses acting (he does well with this awful rubbish) this is a bad advert.
