Roger, thank you for a project to try out. This will be my first thing so I'm thankful that you showed all of the steps. It's a bit intimidating! I'll let you know how it goes.

I tried but how come my machine stops in the middle of the cut and never finished the project the spindle keeps runny but the machins stops moving and that is using candle and or even using easel does the same thing

Possible bad USB cable. More common than one would think.

Hi. This was a very good video. I really appreciated the information you gave in the video. I am having a problem. I have followed your instructions, and the first two runs were great. But since then, it only gets about half through the complete cycle and the router stops. The Z-axis limit lights come on. Any suggestions?
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
I've had that happen before. It was due to the thickness of the project and the length of the bit. it was too close to the upper Z limit.

Thank you so very much. I was able to figure it out. I lowered the bit and after a couple more tries, got it all working good. Thanks again!!!!!@@rogersshop

Good video, thank you! Have you ever tried plastic tags? Like the ones that you engrave through the top of them and the white under it comes through?
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
I call those Micarta Tags. I don't see why you couldn't. The machine that normally engraves them works on the same principal.

Hello Roger, I have a problem trying to do this project, for some reason I can’t cut through the wood. It’s a 3mm piece that I measured .065 inches. I left the settings at Automatic, going through the checklist and started the machine. I kept increasing the depth till I got to .40 inches and still would not cut. Needless to say it was time for a professional opinion, before the “For Sale” sign goes on it.

Did you do the Z probe calibration? Sounds like it is off. If you did, and it is accurate, then make sure you zero Z before probing.

Could you use Fusion 360 software for that CNC router?

Yes, for project design.

Hello Sir, 1st let me thank you a thousand times, all of the videos that say they're for the beginners are not truly. They skip over half of the steps that beginners need. Your videos actually showed where to go on camera so we can see what you are doing. I had NO idea I needed more than candle to make this work ? Who would of thunk😁. I have a couple of questions if you could help me that would be great. So I was already to go, I did The z prob and when I hit send the file my spindle went up and acted like it was cutting the snow flake in mid air, never touched the wood! Any thoughts I would appreciate it. and again thank you for your videos! I was sending my machine back today, just because I was so fed up with it until I found your video on YT last night. Thank you in advance, Clete.

Your Z offset is not set correctly. Too hard to explain in a comment reply in detail, but make sure you set the Z offset after probing.

Good video. I have a couple of questions though. Does your machine have limit switches for homing or does it use sensorless homing? When you use the z probe how does it know how far away the work piece is. I would have expected it to try and cut/engrave at the level of the probe unless you are using a Z offset of some value. Have you ever cut or engraved acrylic? If so what type of bit would you recommend?
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Yes, it has limits. Z Probe base is placed on top of the surface to be machined, then set. Cutting acrylic, I use a 2mm end mill. For engraving, a 20 degree carving bit.

Thank's Roger that was informative. I'm thinking of picking up a small CNC. Would there be any benefit on thin projects to spacing up the work piece to operate with less spindle extended?
@rogersshop2 жыл бұрын
A spoil board does just that. In this case raises 1/2", reducing the Z travel extension where it would get close to limit.

Hi Roger, I’m a bit confused about the machines. I’ve got 2 the 3018 prover v2 supposed upgraded one, and a 3020 pro-max. I need the machine for carving or engraving metal. But the 3018 seems better built with better controls. I’m really confused on which one I should actually keep. And is there and support people to talk to? Thank you sitar.

Can a laser head be added to this machine, please?
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
Yes. But, with the work area so small, you are greatly limited to what you can do. I did it on the V1 when I first got it, but have moved to actual dedicated lasers.

Thanks for the great video. I have a V2. Didn't know the probe worked automatically in the software. Question: My machine is only couple weeks old. I noticed this when using the laser but sounds like my carriage make a vibration noise going to the right but not to the left. It does not do this if I jog the carriage with move commands. Seems maybe related to the machine slowing/speeding quickly? Someone mentioned it could be due to anti-backlash spring? Have you noticed this in your machine? Maybe if you don't have a laser run a wood pattern without the bit and make sure it is traversing right/left. Thanks
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
I did have a laser on my V1 for a while,, but since I have several full size lasers to use, I took it off. On my V2, I've not had any issues, but have not put a laser head on it.
