" Saint Francis of Assisi lay on his deathbed. He was singing, and singing so loudly that the whole neighborhood was aware. Brother Elias, a pompous but prominent member of the Franciscan order, came close to Saint Francis and said, ‘Father, there are people standing in the street outside your window.’ Many had come. Fearing that the last moment of Francis’ life had come, many who loved him had gathered together around the house. Said this brother Elias, “I am afraid nothing we might do could prevent them from hearing you singing. The lack of restraint at so grave an hour might embarrass the order, Father. It might lower the esteem in which you yourself are so justly held. Perhaps in your extremity you have lost sight of your obligation to the many who have come to regard you as a saint. Would it not be more edifying for them if you would, er, die with more Christian dignity?” “Please excuse me, Brother,” Saint Francis said, “but I feel so much joy in my heart that I really can’t help myself. I must sing!” And he died singing. In the whole Christian history, he’s the only one who has died singing. Many Zen people have died singing, but they don’t belong to Christianity. He is the only Zen master amongst Christian saints. He didn’t care a bit about Christian dignity. Saint Francis of Assisi has a different vision - he is just ordinary. He says, “Please excuse me, Brother, but I feel so much joy in my heart that I really can’t help myself. I must sing!” In fact, it is not that Francis is singing, Francis has become the song. That’s why he cannot help, he cannot control. There is nobody left to control it. If the song is happening it is happening. It is not within control, it can’t be, because the controller has disappeared. The self, the ego, no more exists. Saint Francis does not exist as an individual. There is absolute silence inside. Out of that silence this song is born. What can Francis do? That’s why he says, “I can’t help it. I must sing!” And he died singing. And there can be no other better death. If you can die singing, that proves that you lived singing, that your life was a joy and death became the crescendo of it, the culmination. Saint Francis of Assisi is a Buddha. The characteristic of a Buddha is that he is ordinary, that he has no ideas about himself of how he should be, that he simply is spontaneous, that whatsoever happens, happens. He lives on the spur of the moment, that is his authenticity. You can call it his characteristic, but what kind of characteristic is this? It is simply that he has no character, he has no strait-jacket of a character around himself, he has no armor, he does not live from the past, that he does not know what Christian dignity is. He lives in the moment like a child."

Why hold back? What is it that makes you afraid to simply be your authentic self? Roderick, cry. Cry til your tear ducts are dry. In Kwan Yin’s Prayer For The Abuser she prays that even the abuser would experience free flowing tears. It is normal to cry but men are conditioned to believe it is weak. Just let it out Dear Roderick. Wail into your pillow. It opens a gate. It allows things to dislodge and flow and melt. The pain you might feel is safe to feel. There is healing in letting it flow. You say you wish we would all listen to these readings, that they would change many. But my Dear Roderick, if you are stopping your own tears, you are resisting, in a sense, this very teaching you wish for others to hear. To thine own self be true. And when Jesus said love others, remember, YOU are one of those others. I wish you peace!!! 💟☮️✝️☪️🕉☸️✡️☯️

Lord, in the silence of this dawning day, I come to ask you for peace, wisdom and strength. I want to look at the world today with eyes full of love; be patient, understanding, gentle and wise; see your children beyond appearances, like you see them yourself, and thus, see only the good in everyone. Close my ears to all slander, keep my tongue from all malice and only thoughts that bless remain in my mind. May I be so kind and so joyful that all those who approach me feel your power and your presence. Clothe me with your beauty, Lord, and that I reveal to you throughout the day. So be it. Amen

The one ‘you’ are looking for; is the one who is looking. Gota Love it! The live went very well. No Martha cumbered about with much serving. Only Mary at the feet. You have been watching in my posts what is ‘happening’ in ‘me’. As some stabilization in the I AM without words is happening, as ‘I’ discover there is no identity. During the live in the meditation finally began to see how to just let things just be. Could never do that when there was identity. With identity you only struggle with stuff, can’t let go. Things begin to slow down n ‘you’ can see what’s happening as ‘you’ begin to stabilize in the I AM without words. No need to tell ‘you’ my joy n gratitude!!

Having Christianity as my original teachings, would like to share something that can help others as well. Said to Samaneri the scripture, ‘He that loves his life shall lose it, n he that hates his life shall save it’. Then said I hate my life. That hate is just an emotion & not Biblical hate! Can be shown Biblically. In the garden Adam was ashamed, he hated it cause he hid, yet embraced it as him. On the cross the 2ed or last Adam, Christ. It says He despised the shame. Then another scripture comes. He was a man despised & rejected of men. What we really hate we reject, not eat n make it part of us. If you hate octopus having never even eaten it, do you want it on your table, to see it, to even smell it? Or if you ate Brussel sprouts n hated them are you going to eat them again? Shame, rejection, worthlessness come all the time, do you like the taste? Then don’t just hate them, reject them, as Christ rejected the shame while naked on the cross. That tunic He wore, that lots were cast for, was Christs under ware. His under ware was woven from a single thread, seamless. This was to show His underlying seamless nature. Which is your underlying true nature. Don’t pollute it with all that stuff, reject it, like Christ did. He felt the shame but it didn’t enter His Being, He rejected it. So He was never ashamed like Adam, just saw it & rejected it. He didn’t eat it! This is not eating from the tree of the knowledge of good & evil, THE MIND.

Such a beautiful reading from one of my favorite saints! Pange Lingua Gloriosi always makes me cry. It is usually chanted on Maundy Thursday at the end of the evening Mass when the priest carries the Eucharist in a monstrance in a long procession accompanied by a thurible full of incense around the kneeling congregation. It is a very powerful experience.
