I am not a Bible Scholar by any means, but I have studied the history of the Bible and those who wrote it. What I saw with William Tyndale and Martin Luther using the Erasmus Text for translating, that text was the best they could get their hands on at the time. You couldn't just email and get a text UPS'ed to you in those times. I believe that Tyndale did a remarkable job with what he had to work with. Just limited texts to translate from due to geographical and maybe some cultural barriers, too. There are some translations of Jeremiah 29:11 that are worded better than others. NRSV is one of my favorites, but there are others that work well, too. Personally, I mainly read the NKJV.

Hebrew was alive and well during the 1st Century as a vernacular tongue. There were elements of biblical Hebrew in the spoken language of Judea and Galilee, but Hebrew continued to develop like most living languages do into a post-biblical form (i.e. Mishnaic Hebrew). This form of Hebrew was distinct from Aramaic but related as well. Rabbinical parables were only told and preserved in the Mishnah and Talmud in post-biblical Hebrew. The very existence of the Mishnah demonstrates a development in Hebrew, which only a living language can do. Hebrew as a spoken tongue most likely declined after the Bar Kochba Revolt in the early 2nd century. P.S. I know biblical, Mishnaic, and Modern Hebrew.

First guys misquotes the Jewish scriptures: Psalm 2:12 says arm yourselves with purity lest He become angry…. Not kiss the son.

King James Bible Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
