St. Polycarp, Bishop and Martyr
Bio
St. Polycarp converted to Christianity in the year 80AD. St. John, the beloved disciple of our Lord, consecrated him Bishop of Smyrna in the year 96AD. He was captured by the Romans and ordered to blaspheme Christ. Polycarp replied "How can I blaspheme my King and my Savior?" As they prepared to burn him alive, he looked up towards heaven and prayed to his Heavenly Father. When they lit the pile, the flames encircled him and did not consume him. Finally, a spearman pierced through the holy martyr.
