I really enjoyed this video, and the interpretation of this episode as dark magic sacrifice. While I don't have any problem with subtext, I do wish the show runners had made that aspect a bit more explicit, if that was their intention.

Hola chica. Once they started calling the dragons "(old?) Gods" their entire role changed within the TV story. They aren't simply mounts for the Targs to dominate and use to impose their will on others, but much more active participants in the relationship. They, in fact, dictate the relationship itself. ("It's an illusion that we can control dragons." Indeed, it's exactly the opposite.) After all, dragons don't have to let anyone ride them. Many never have riders and others go many years without one, as well. They're very patient, like most other reptiles in that regard, and a "few decades" doesn't mean nearly so much them as it does to a human. No need to rush, or be rushed, which really does make it seem as if they're waiting for "worthy" riders to bond with. They want to be ridden, but only by those that deserve it in some way. This gives an entirely new meaning to concept of "Fire & Blood"(i.e. Dragon & Rider). Although, the criteria still seem a bit vague and inconsistent on the show. If it isn't blood-based(e.g. Adam), or through specific behavior, Ulf vs. Hugh vs. Aemond vs. Adam vs. Nettles vs. Crib Eggs, etc...), then there must be some "thing" else. Despite the destruction and suffering it has been show to cause time and time again, Fire-magic is clearly still very powerful on Planetos. The entire concept of worshiping Fire continues in the East in the form of R'hollor-ism where it is worshiped more abstractly than in the physical form of a flying monster in much the same way the Starks worship/fear "Winter"(Ice) as a concept and not just the in the corporeal form of the Others. It's almost as if there is some sort of grand, prophetic song being played out between the elemental forces of Fire & Ice themselves....almost ;) (they even "sing" to the dragons to bond) See you at the big Season Finale Livestream!!!! As Rhaenyra said, all she knew of claiming dragons turned to ash in the wind, and I think that was the most accurate statement. I think you're right, it's completely up to the Dragon and finding who they feel is worthy. On the blood thing, I know a few things about genetics and hematology 😂 plus I have “magical blood” myself that determined my rise in a certain religious sect, and I wish I could share that knowledge but I can’t due to vows taken. However, I can share my thoughts about blood bonds, oaths, and pacts. Let’s discuss Rhesus Negative Blood (Rh-). It’s known that Rh- blood exists in all populations, due to interbreeding and genetic defects that keep the positive part of that gene from expressing itself. They’re not genetically Rh-, but they are still treated as a true Rh- when it comes to blood transfusions. Some of you may have heard of a weak Rh positive individual. Their deviation is a genetic mutation instead of the inherited genetic code of two recessive alleles that come from each of your parents. Those of us with true Rh- blood are much rarer than we even knew. The discovery of partial expression on the gene combination responsible for the positive portion of that person’s blood. I’m still reading all the new research because I am shooketh by the revelations and meanings for future research! What I have discovered from the studies is that true Rh- blood appears to be contained to Caucasians and those that mixed with Caucasians. Although, we are learning some fascinating things about Indigenous DNA, Neanderthal, Desnovian, and Homo Sapian lineages. The highest percentage of Rh- individuals show up in Basque, Spain with 35% of their population being Rh- . It is thought that we represent 15% of the population of the world, but after Covid, we shrunk from 15% to 9%. With the new discoveries related to full, partial, or no gene expression on the part responsible for Positive blood. 91% of the world has Rh Positive blood. It was 85%, when I was a little girl. I have the most racists 1910’s - 1960’s researcher books and papers that are hilariously as non PC as you can get, but their discoveries were very interesting and have been covered up by politicians. Such compassion in your voice. She just threw them out there to learn without instruction really. It reminds me of my child asking for help and me telling him to figure it out and try it himself to figure it out. I had the idea of similarities of her kind of letting her children "go to sleep" using the "cry it out" methods. This is also known as extection method. We see Alicent letting her children just cry too but using several stages to reopen to them or close. This creates emotional detachment and has many layers to that time is not measurable in by true cries. We see it with the children and also dragons several times. Also we can apply it in a Ferberizing way to the time manipulation during the Harrenhall scenes and crys heard by Ayls. They suggest whatever is tolerable as the time.

The dragons are the gods of old Valyria. The Old Gods of Valyria. I think that dragonriders have a second life in their dragons like the skinchangers. But dragons live longer than other animals and can have many riders. A dragonrider have a psicic link to their beast, and through that has access to the wisdom of their ancestors, much like the Old Gods of the North.

I would love to pick your brain. I'm RH -, and genetics is one of my interests. I did my senior project on genetic genealogy when DNA testing was first becoming available to the public. This was before autosomal testing, you could only test for your haplogroup. My haplogroup is believed to be a part of the repopulation of Europe after the last ice age. The indigenous groups I am most closely related to are Basques and Amazigh Berbers. My recent ancestry is mostly from the British Isles and Ireland. Red hair and hazel green eyes. I do believe there is magic in the blood, at least with the women in my family. Anyway... Do you have any sources available online that you could recommend to me? 😅

However, it might just require the specific terminology to find these. NATURE is a great journal due to the variety of different research topics and most of it can be accessed for free. The journal GENETICS, published by GCS has high-quality, original research presenting novel findings bearing on inheritance. Also try google scholar, and pull full text or use your local college or your kids login to get access through institutions that pay for those privileges. You and I share some genetic origins, along with our blood, hair color, and eye color! I love it! We’ve got powers too! Red headed witches have been feared for millennia! We’re the OG priestesses! 😂

HOTD or should I say 'The Rhaenyra Show' is pure fan fiction at this point, or fan service to give modern audiences and former Daenerys fans a new badass warrior dragon queen. The show runner is constantly breaking the lore to push his own narrative, he thinks he can own the story and do better than the source material. Both Rhaenyra and Alicent are so different in the book, they are powerful women in a male dominatad world but no victims, they're willing participants in all the political decisions and scheming, that's how GRRM likes to write his characters, no one is blameless in his world, and Rhaenyra's character is as cruel as the rest of the players. The point of the book's story is that thirst for power can tear entire families apart, while in the show it's more about feminism and the evil patriarchy, very popular themes these days. Martin has been subtly critisizing the writers, he found aspects of the adaptation quite problematic, like Blood&Cheece for instance, he also recently quoted: 'Ignore canon and the world you've created comes apart like tissue paper.' The show is not even loosely based on the Fire&Blood book, and its unreliable narrators are far less biased than Condal the Rhaenyra simp.
