I've been introducing Carnival of the Animals to my Kindergarten through 2nd graders for quite a few years now AND I LOVE THAT I FOUND THIS VIDEO IN TIME FOR THIS YEAR. I've always shown them Stephen Malinowski's (Channel: smalin) graphic illustration of this movement as a visual of the rhythms and melodic lines and this year they sit fascinated watching this live performance. I think the fact that this is "just" casually dressed musicians hanging in a studio together playing this music so gorgeously together makes it feel that much more accessible to them than performances I show of musicians dressed up on stage in the spotlight. They loved calling out the instruments they recognized and were of course fascinated with the "round shiny thing that turns." ;-) Thanks so much for this!

Rarely does such a miraculous and enormously talented group of siblings occur. Everything they play is as though they had been playing at the highest levels for much longer than they've even been alive. To listen to them is to find joy; I am always eager to hear what they offer next.

This is the first time I have heard this with a glass harmonica and it adds wonderful atmosphere. It's a very limpid performance, and I think I recognise the principal flautist of the LSO.

The clarity that they have and the touch the pianists have is incredible. Sheku has an incredible performance of Elgar’s cello concerto, I think it’s my absolute fave. Tied for first with Sol Gabetta and Jacqueline du Pre.
