Extremely underrated metal legends. They influenced bands like Cathedral, Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity, Soundgarden. They even predated Alice in Chains' atmosphere and themes in my opinion. And nobody knows them. Every SV record is a gem.

Fair review. Imo, Dave is one of the best guitarists I have heard since Tony Iommi, mixing heavy song structures, with over the top glorious wah drenched flurries of notes, and masterfully controlled feedback, ala Hendrix, and even cooler live. If you get the chance to see them, make sure and take it, you will not be disappointed. As I call the band friends, I would also like to add, that former bassist, and fellow doom legend Mark Adams, has Parkinson's, and a go fund me set up to help him. Mark is a super cool guy, that loved playing for Saint Vitus. I have talked to him in person, and on the phone, and he is very appreciative of all the fans, that have supported the band all these years. Join us on fb, in the Saint Vitus Family of Doom group, for more info on that, and a great group of people, no drama, and no bs, and we honor all the past and present members of the band. Just answer a few questions (done to keep out spammers) that most Vitus fans would know the answers to, and you are in, doom on....\+/

Saint Vitus is so awesome. The second self titled album is so amazing. “SST Records” had a lot of great bands in its roster such as “Black Flag”, “The Minutemen”, and “Husker-Du”. Saint Vitus is one of the best bands from that roster. Scott Reagers is an amazing and yet powerful vocalist, Dave Chandler is great guitarist, Patrick Bruders is an amazing bass player, and Henry Vasquez is an awesome drummer. The debut album kicks so much ass, along with “Hallow’s Victim”, “The Walking Dead”, and “Die Healing”. Great review of an album from amazing Doom Metal band. Saint Vitus is just as good as other bands such “Black Sabbath”, “Judas Priest”, “Iron Maiden” and “Saxon”. Other than that, cool and SAINT VITUS RUULLLEESSSS🤘🏾🔥!!!!!!!!!!!:).

Great review. I am not a huge saint Vitus even though I have heard most of their albums but this album does sound kinda promising. I hope the Indian band kryptos gets a shout out from Sarah! for releasing their new album afterburner. They started off as a melodic thrash/heavy metal band but now are more or less a old school heavy/speed metal act. They are one of the most important/influential metal bands from India very pivotal for the metal scene there and been active since god knows how long.

I guess I didn't like this album as much as you maybe I need to listen to it a little more. I still like wino more than reagers. Wino sounds crazy like there something mentally wrong with him in a good way like he's not ok and it really drives the music and lyrics home. Reagers is a better vocalist with a greater range but he sings more in the vein of regular heavy metal I guess your Ozzy to Dio comparison was spot on

I'm still don't get Doom Metal, I mean I now that a lot of them want to give those early Black Sabbath vibe, but still I don't get it, and it not that I don't like slow music I think that Death Doom is awesome (Mostky because it's slow Death Metal) but I never got the appeal of Doom I had tried to listen to a lot of Doom like Sleep, Kyuss, Yob, Candlemass, Electric Wizard etc and still don't like it, I tried to listen to this band because I heard the style of Doom te play it's different but yeh I realize that it's a Punky style of Doom and I don't like Punk either, if someone can get me some Doom that you think that I may like give me some bands. No problem with the review I think that it's a good one, but I'm thinking that the Channel has had a lot of Doom on the recent times (mostly on recomentions).
@imdartson36795 жыл бұрын
Doom is really about the oppressive weight of the music. Check out Reverend Bizarre - II: Crush the Insects. It strikes a great balance between opening up accessibly and also being a really pure example of just how heavy doom is. Not sonically, but emotionally. Particularly on a track like Slave of Satan.
@scruffyp94805 жыл бұрын
I agree. I love slow heavy riffs so I want to enjoy it but I can't really get into the stuff. I dig Kyuss and The Melvins though.

If you're into death/doom or funeral doom (you're into the slowness of it all) and you want to get into traditional doom metal then I would recommend Warning - Watching From A Distance , Cathedral - Forest of Equilibrium, The Wounded Kings - The Shadow Over Atlantis, Rore Mare - Serpents of the Church, Reverend Bizarre - In The Rectory, Spiritus Mortis - The God Behind The God, The Gates of Slumber - The Wretch, Dawn of Winter - Pray for Doom. I hope that you'll find a band or a song that you might enjoy. Here are a few bands(some bands are more focused on/have faster/mid tempo songs and also slow songs and some bands focus more on the slower stuff): Paul Chain, The Black, Black Oath, Cathedral, Iron Void, The Lamp of Thoth, The Wounded Kings, Witchfinder General, Mourn, Pallbearer, Pagan Altar, Iron Man, Death Mask, Voodooshock, Dawn of Winter, Count Raven, Pentagram, The Gates of Slumber, Spiritus Mortis, Minotauri, Acolytes of Moros, Orodruin, Cold Mourning, Dautha, Griftegård, Penance, Dream Death, Revelation, Rote Mare, Trouble, The Obsessed, Lucifer's Fall, Solemn Ceremony, Eldritch Rites, Dire Fate, Rituals of the Oak, Cardinals Folly, Church of Void, Crypt Sermon, Doomstress, Myopic Empire, Reverend Bizarre, The Skull, Opium Warlords, Second Grave, Albino Python, Ningen Isu, Church of Misery, Witchcraft, Burning Saviours, Lord Vicar, Solstice, While Heaven Wept, Warning, Solitude Aeturnus, Mirror of Deception, Pale Divine, Reino Ermitano, Witching Altar, Cauchemar
