That was the point. Joe Shmo (main character) was another person in the gang, so no key character cared much about him. He became more important when he spoke up, mostly joking about Gat's comment, but that put in a little shock factor to the key characters who thought that your character was just another gang member.

28:56 This is the moment I fuckin' fell in love with Saints Row. It's a gangbanger simulator that lives up to GTA, sure, but it goes well beyond that. It's got an emotional core, the characters aren't just two-dimensional idiots and they have *growth*, and the character was *yours* and not just a premade dude. It added a layer of investment by letting you self-insert, or, at the very least, design the Playa/Boss yourself, so it's still your creation doing all this shit. Sure, Saints Row: The Third and 4 are massive departures, and I'd rather see the style of 2 comeback. But Saints Row is still sick as fuck, start to finish.

I'd say, that thing between Aisha and Johnny was true love. All the mess they did and all the little things they kept annoying each other with, but still sticking with each other. And especially Johnny's dark, intimidating rage after Aisha's death proves it
