Calm air at 5am.... not bad for jumping. The sicily jump had em spread into solo fights. But the open terrain of South France put Americans together in support of each other. And on the first day. not many would be taken prisoner. It was ambush and move. Find others from the stick and move to the meet up point. Three paratroopers by this point in the war would be a true challenge for any german squad looking for them.

I've seen this movie. It was supposed to be about the Malmedy Massacre. Some research they did making this turkey. The shoulderpatches said they were 101st, but the 101st. was no where near Malmedy that day. It was a company of 285th Field Artillery Observation Battalion taken prisoners whereas 84 of them were murdered in cold blood by Peiper's SS gangsters. And Peiper almost got away with it, until justice caught up with him in -76. He was cremated alive in his own house, in France. Revenge is a dish best served cold. I hope he's till burning, in hell.

If he is a uniformed soldier then absolutely not against the rules of war to smoke him as he drops. The German paratrooper units took crippling losses that day even though they won the battle, and the island.
