Strangely, less quantifiable things have come to mind for me for pass marks- No dramas, no dickhead policy that is policed by Mason Wood, Cal, Lenny and co., consistency, stability, no players turning elsewhere at end of year to explore options, development and strong impressions of how the youth (2nd year up) fare in AFL (with exception to Tauru). Horrific fixture. All about individual kids growing. I just want to see a young midfield emerge in windhager, philli, garcia. Want to see KING kick 60+ and arrive. We do that and win half the games without a blowout over 50 then great season. Also 4 year extensions from philli Nas, Wilson, Owens please. Keep building. 2027+ will be our era.

Lyon maintaining the role based style and game plan that is intended and further understood by the playing group for a more consistent 2025. The third year of Ross across the teams he has coached has always been the year that brings the activation of his structure to the fore.

For me it’s a better midfield and scores from stoppage and turnover performance. Even if it’s sneaking into the top 6 teams statistically from scores from turnovers and efficiency inside 50. Need to see some surprises in the midfield

I would like to win a final but not an elimination final , something higher than that . With us it’s injuries and who gets them . If we actually have a good run with our best players we are every chance to get to 6th or better . The one thing that has held us back for years as been our one dimensional midfield players . But with McCrae and Pou , Steele , Owens plus a mixture of Sinclair and Wilson suddenly it’s looking so much better . Obviously we want big Max to have an injury free year plus Sharman continues his great form from last year . Our forward line looks good . I am worried about our key defenders especially if Wilkie gets injured because he is the sort of defender who somehow can play on any big or tall . He reminds me a lot of Gilbert . But if Wilkie and Howard both get long term injuries we might be in trouble . Plus of course. We can’t lose Marshall , how he was not in the all Australian side last year was amazing, is it an anti Saints thing , sounds silly to say that but Wilkie hasn’t made it either . Finally I can’t wait for the footy to start . I assume you have enough people for your podcasts but if you find yourself short I would love to help . I did a little podcast on big footy a few years back with my mate who unfortunately passed away but it was never a serious podcast , just a bit of fun . Anyway the offer is there if you are short .

more wins than losses is a pass mark for me,but improvement across the list will also be a pass mark,selecting a team for round 1 with say 40 out of 44 players on the list to choose from will be a great start,but im looking at the big picture,we need to be in pole position when lachie neale,zorko,half the pies and cats lists,treloar etc all get to picking up their pension cheques,right now we are in a very good position to be there with our last 3 draft hands,higgins clark ming henry sharman & the 3 ex carlton guys if they can get it together all at the perfect age,keep putting those pieces together and be ready to pounce,flags are won by being in the right place at the right time

a finals appearance is a pass mark imo, idc if we lose in an elimination, just top 8. we have a talented list, we have shown that we can do damage against the top teams, so we are capable of making a name of ourselves in 2025.

This Pass Mark thing is horse sh!t. It's not about wins/losses, the goal should be our young taking more responsibility through out the team, 20+ plus game seasons for 4th year and under players, seeing Phillopou, Milera and co taking out the best and fairest awards, keeping our losing margins under 5 goals on average, beating the beatable teams like we should and being more competitive against the top tier teams, do all that and finals will come. It's not wins and losses for the Saints, hit those KPI's (key performance indicators) and the wins will come, putting a number on the wins is a waste of time and not the driving force. To get the wins, you need to do the basics better first.
